So I recently realized that the 2x teleconverter I got doubled the maximum magnification of my lenses, and so I tried some quick macro photography tonight.

How do these pics from a complete macro noob look? Facebook compression kinda kills the quality, but I'm too lazy to re-upload this late at night :D

*Sigh* makes me want a real 1:1 macro lens now...

Not actually that much trial and error actually...the 40D shoots over 6 FPS, and even with the flash on the recycle time is nearly instantaneous...so I ended up taking about 50 shots and getting about 10-15 keepers.

I also like the first one the best. I just bought the Canon 100mm 2.8 macro. Water drops are on my list to try out.

I agree that your first photo is the most interesting. Perhaps try some more dramatic lighting or colors to mix it up? I think the most interesting shot would be getting that elusive "crown" effect.

Your link does not work....

I love the sparkle on the drop in the first picture op!

nice!

I got some extension tubes recently and have been playing with them (with a vivitar 70-210)
I didn't think of the water drops though :(
I shot some little flaming candles.

Thanks for letting me know. I guess there's no way to link directly to a photo with Picasa web album. Here's the link to the photo within the album:
