By the way, this type of damage is usually not covered under warranty. Dell has one special warranty called "CompleteCare" which covers user error stuff... but it's like $300 added to the cost of a system. So, your friend may be seriously up a creek.

Yep and it's pretty bad for ya too, your body needs those electrolytes in normal water.

Probably will be fine. It has to be completely dry before you start it again. Let it dry out for approximately one week. By this time everything should be ok.

A co-worker if mine spilled a cup of coffee on his new Thinkpad. Sent it to IBM and they said it was crap. Not worth fixing.

Not compared to the water coming out of my tap.

Your body can get those electrolytes from other sources. I do not only drink distilled water. When I drink water it is distilled though.

At the very least, the system board is probably toast. If it's still under warranty and he knows what he's doing, he can open up the machine and remove all traces of liquid (including any film or residue) and try to send it in to sony for service.
