Water...so...hot...

The water in our apartment used to be perfect. Unfortunately, some people in the corners of the complex had to complain about "waiting 15 minutes" for hot water or something equally insignificant.

So they came and "fixed" our hot water system. Now, pointing the faucet to the left of the middle (at all) is too hot. When I switch from hot water to cold, the water pressure actually decreases. I wouldn't have a problem with this, except it narrows the range of acceptable water temperature to a few degrees (radial degrees, not temperature degrees). I am now frequently burned by our water, and it's unpleasant.

BTW, yes, I take hot water for granted. :p j/k

Cliff's Notes:
---------------
-Water was good for our apartment
-People complained about it being too cold
-They fixed the problem
-Now it's too hot
-My life is incredibly difficult

Oh noes. They fixed everyone elses water so you have to be more careful.

I certainly hope you noticed the sarcastic tone of my OP. :) Burning is bad, but I'll adjust eventually.

Call your extension office and report them for unsafe practices. There is no excuse for having faulty equipment. Water should NEVER scald especially in the shower. If older people or children live in that building, this is even more important.

Commercial DHWG systems are supposed to store the water at a much higher temp to ensure an outbreak of Legionella bacteria doesn't occur. A thermostatic mixing valve ensures the maximum delivery temperature is not exceeded. If the valve is malfunctioning, or otherwise bypassed troubles begin. Long uninsulated runs cause complaints from residents on the outside walls, etc.

If with it winged all the way to the left, it should never go over 115F. Some areas the upper limit is 110F. Measure this with a thermometer.

THIS IS DANGEROUS and should not be taken lightly!

Holy shit! With both hot water and cold water turned on full blast... the water temp here must be 180F+. Waaaaay to hot to touch, and boils very quickly if put into the microwave.

Wow, I didn't realize this was a serious issue. I'll check into the temperature.
