water problem in Lost Coast

Latest drivers installed? Do you have this issue with Half-Life 2 as well? It could, however, be related to the fact that your X700 is SM 2.0b, whereas the 6600GT is SM3.0... Not sure about that one though...

I previously thought that HDR was a feature strictly for SM3.0, but I read somewhere that it was programmed to work with SM2.0b as well, in the case of Lost Coast... However, I stated that I wasn't sure of it... There aren't many other differences between the X700 and 6600 (feature-wise of course)...

The latest drivers may work...

yeah i have the 5.13 drivers. maybe it does have to do with sm3.0.

It should indeed do fine on SM2.0b hardware... 🙁 Try different drivers maybe...

oh well. i guess will go back to nvidia since ther is no fix.

6600gt is better than an x700 anyways...
yes i know that. the 6600gt overheated so thought i would try an x700. its actually not my pc and the owner had the rear case fan blowing in so thats probably why he had the heat issues. i think i will go back to the 6600gt.

Doesn't Half-Life store info related to the video card when you install it. I seem to remember having to delete some user data file when installing a new card in order to get it to detect to proper settings. It has been a while since I have played any games so my memory is getting fuzzy.

i uninstalled steam and now i am reloading steam and lost coast. i will see if that works.

I doubt that will work, I know ATI drivers are decidedly tenacious, and also don't play well with remnants of other drivers. I've even heard of total re-install of Windows to get rid of remnants from ATI over to Nvidia and vice versa.

I also get the same jaggy water, and I dont remember it being like that before. I recently updated to the 5.13 drivers, maybe that's causing the issue.

Not to bump this, but I just realized I am now getting that issue too, with the 5.13's. Let me know if any of you has found a fix.

EDIT - 5.12's don't work either (used driver cleaner). Along with this, when I first installed the 5.13's, the CCC stopped working, and even after reinstalling it won't work (I've been using ATI Tray Tools since).

Neither the 6.1 drivers (which mentioned a similar bug under the 'fixed' section in release notes) nor turning off Catalyst A.I. helped >.>

i upgraded from a x300se to a x800GTO a huge leap with no problems at all

im running 5.13 on my x800GTO2 at X850XTPE and this is what i got

Lost Coast Screen Shot

i kinda noticed a hard line w/ the water in an early part of the benchmark but i thought this was a better overall shot.

and avg fps is 90.22

turn off Catalyst AI and this problem will be fixed according to some.
Also there is a fix with the new 6.1's Thats all there is to it.
