My faithful old 90 Accord LX has a leak somewhere in the rear area of the engine bay. A few months ago I had a new radiator put on as that had a crack in it and was leaking.

It's been fine until today, was driving home and noticed steam coming out from under the hood, temperature guage steadily rising. Managed to get home and pop the hood, steam was rising from between the engine and the back of the engine bay. I am wondering if a hose or seal has gone/cracked etc.

I will check in the morning when it's light to see if the water is steadily dripping out or if the leak is only when the car is running.

Any thoughts on what else to look at or what the problem might be? I could probably handle a simple fix, otherwise want to make sure a mechanic doesnt try and rip me off.

Thanks in advance

Since it's that far back, it could be the hoses for the heater core. If you go to www.autozone.com, they have part of the service manual for your car. Go to "Repair Info" -> "Vehicle Repair Guides" The radiator, water pump, and thermostat sections are listed under Engine & Engine Overhaul -> Engine Mechanical section. The heater core section is under "Chassis Electrical."
