My 50 gallon electric tank water heater started leaking near the bottom element. I drained it and replaced both elements thinking it may just be an old gasket... The leak never stopped so I ordered a Rinnai 8gpm condensing water heater and a direct vent kit.
I ran 45 feet of gas pipe to it and re-plumbed the water lines so it resides in my crawlspace instead of my laundry room (where the tank was taking up valuable space) I installed it Saturday. I'm tempted to get a few remote controllers for it, but don't know if it's worth the money.
Anyone else have one of these?
If so...I have some questions:
1. What temp do you set it to?
-----I have mine set to 110 degrees so it delivers water a little faster and I can take a shower with 100% hot water and no mixing. This means laundry/dishwasher/other showers don't cause cold or scalding from system pressure changes...
2. Do you use any circulation pumps to reduce the time it takes to get hot water?
-----I ask because my bathrooms and water heater are on opposite ends of the house. I could have moved it, but vent location (due to windws/building code) and servicing of the unit would have been a real issue if I hadn't put it where I put it.
3. Do you use it for radiant heat applications?
