Water damage

It was pouring with rain over the weekend. Anyway, there's a little dip in the road near me, which had flooded (about 8 inches deep), and some kids where sitting by the side of the road encouraging cars to splash them (they had water proof clothing, a sign asking to be splashed an umbrellas).

So, I thought I'd entertain them, and caned it into the flood. It was very impressive and the kids were well impressed.

Unfortunately, the force of the impact between the water surface and the puddle tore off an underbody cover, and folded it over, so it was scraping.

The noise of the cover scraping on the road was phenomenal. Anyway, I drove the rest of the way home and was able to sort out the cover. No real damage, it had just pulled out of the rubber grommets holding it on. 5 minutes with a wrench and it was reinstalled, albeit a bit scuffed. That and there were leaves everwhere under the car.

There's probably a moral to this story, but I can't think what it is at the moment.
