hey guys, i was just wondering....well im 13 and christmas and new years is coming....well im going to get presents. mostly money. well i think ill have total about 100-150 bucks. i need ram( 1 more 512 stick of patriot pc4800 tccd) and a new cpu cooler. im doing 2.4 on stock cooler right now with temps 37 surfing the net and 48 playing games. i did 2.9 but it got high as hell. so do yuo think i should get ram and big typhoon or a watercooling setup?? if water, then which one? thx 🙂

Not until you can type in English.

on a serious side, if you're 13, I'd say no, it's too easy to damage your system if you don't know exactly what you are doing.

wow your starting early at 13 years. a good watercooling system that will last is going to cost about 200-300 bucks.

i would recommed getting a good heatsink and stick to air for a bit, get that ram, and save the rest for a good watercooling system later on.

Water cooling can be a right arse, if it's your firest time using it, I messed my loop up first time round 😀

Personally, I'd say some better heatsink/fan combos would be your best bet for cooling, water benefits are minescule in comparison to some really good HSF combos.

Cost of Thermalright XP-120: $50
Time to install Thermalright XP-120: 3 minutes
Temps with Thermalright XP-120: 29C idle, 33C load
Knowing that I'll never have to worry about leaks: priceless.

Unless you have a real reason to need watercooling, don't bother. Cheap watercooling is less effective than good air cooling, and it's no quieter.

Watercooling is great for geeky willy waving contests, but not worth the hastle for most people (including me, as i realised after i got my first watercooling rig).

ok thanks guys, i realized that too.....id better get a big typhoon with a delta on it and that ram. thanks for the advices

LOL, be sure to get ready for some loud nights... The point of watercooling is not just for lower temps but because of the fact they run quiet. Thats one reason why I'm considering watercooling myself.

NOT THE DELTA!

The stock fan is good enough for the most part, ifyou want to drop the case temps think about a 120mm or two as eshaust fans then clean up the airflow inside the case with rounded cables and cable ties.

The Big Typhoon is a very nice cooler, and will match any water setup you can make with the remaining sub-$100 you'll have left after the stick of RAM.

I'd probably grab a 120mm Panaflo or Sunon medium speed fan. They'll pump out a good amount of air, and won't be nearly as loud as the delta.

yeah a delta is a bit loud too ( i just read the spec sheet).....ill prolly get something else...or stick with the stock big typhoon fan. anyway, i have 4 fans from old power supplies in my case ( 2 intake, 2 exhaust) and they push lotta air but are pretty loud. im used to it. thanks guys.

EDIt: does anyone have big typhoon on evga nf-41??? is it going to fit? thanks

Exactly why I got it, I can now sleep while my computer is on, o/c and still have nice temperatures.

to OP, I would wait with watercooling but if you want to buy complete kits you should visit asetek.com

have been watercooling since 1998

for me its the knowing that they system is quiet , i have been to air cooling twice since and everytime gone back to watercooling.

for leaks i had two in my life, both was my error . niether hurt anything.

system is on 24hrs a day

IMO no, water cooling isnt worth it unless you get an uber water system. I just replaced my water cooling with the shogun heatsink/120mm fan combo from Newegg. I seen a couple degrees drop in temps and it also ran alittle quieter then my water cooling setup.

i would say just stick to air cooling for now until you can afford a high-end water cooling setup. The Big Typhoon will be a good choice if you keep the fan. If you are planning on replacing the fan anyways, then maybe the XP-90, or Scythe Ninja would be a good choice as it would either be cheaper or the same price with the fan of your choice.

I built my current water cooling setup when I was 15, and I'll have to say I did a pretty good job 🙂

But make sure you really know what you're doing. Especially at 13 and without a real job, breaking something can be disastrous for both you and your parents.

lol thanks guys i dont think i would spend that much money on just a cooling setup either....you know i dont have a job and id rater buy a stick of ram and a regular cooler than just a cooler thats not going ot give me more thatn a 30% difference. thanks

lol yeah i know i dont only spend my money on my pc, im not one of those kids who come home do their homework and then do stuff with their pc all day. i play sports and skateboard etc... if all i did was work on my pc i would prolly die already... 🙂

Water cooling is soo tempting when you see other people having it but you have to realize some of these kids are just plain spoiled and or have jobs. I thought about it many times even in my shuttle but really its just not worth it.

IMO, its a status symbol, eventually I'll make a rig with water cooling, but the TT big typhoon is cool enough even with the 1200 rpm fan on there. Quiet too.
