Water Cooling Solution/Mixture?

I was wondering what some options were for the actual liquid in a water cooling system. I've read that distilled water is better than tap water due to impurities eviscerating the system over time. I've also read that adding Anti-freeze to your water at 10:1 prevents "severe galvanic corrosion."

I'm certain this has been discussed before but I can't find it anywhere in the AT forums. Directions?
 
You will need water with an additive.

Water - distilled only - tap water conaints mineral content which will clog up you block, pump and radiator.
Additive - a number of sites sell additive for less than $10.00. Usual consists of an anti-freeze to prevent metal corrosion caused by different metals in the system reacting with the water - copper and alumin for example. Some also contain a separate ingrediant for controlling bacterial growth. Glycol additives will do both. Color not usually important.

Dyes - An number contain UV dyes - stay away from them.
 
Thanks for the clarification. I work at my local AirPort and we use a 50/50 Glycol/Water mixture to de-ice the aircrafts. Maybe I could look into that 😉
