Water Cooling Issue

I am looking into starting a Water cooling system but I am stumped on what size tubing to run. I want to run 1/2 but as i use the EX58 Extreme, the block on the NB is recommended 7.5mm ID tubing.. that's smaller than 3/8 if i am not mistaken. I think that 3/8 would be good enough for my CPU,NB, and my single HD 4870x2.. provided I can find a Waterblock for it that's in stock...LOL

Any ideas or advice is welcomed.

But will those sizes fit on the NB block that's on the board or should i just got with it and clamp them?

isnt the waterblock replaceable to something else?

Can you put an aftermarket waterblock ontop of it instead of the stock one?

Can't really tell with the large addon fin cooler for it.. may just skip the NB and cool the CPU and GPU's.

From the Photo on their Website.. it looks like it can be removed but I may run into the problem of mounting a new one. I'd have to rely on the mounting holes lining up and chances are ???? that a new one will.

Anyone have any type of setup for the Antec 900 case? looking for ideas on a radiator to go along with the parts above.

Here are some examples of water cooling in an Antec 900:

The general consensus from what I've read on the 'Net is that the 900 is not well-suited for water cooling (although it can be done with some ingenuity). It's great for air cooling though.

Edit:

Your biggest challenge is finding a place for the rad since its the biggest thing in the loop. You must take into account the thickness of at least one fan (or two if you go with a push-pull config) when working out where it should be placed inside or outside the case. Quite a few people stick the rad on the rear of the 900 using a rad box.

The water block doesn't matter since they are all roughly about the same size.

For a pump, you can use a Swiftech MCP350, 355 or 655. Replace the 350 or 355 pump top with an XSPC top, XSPC top / res or EK top / res, so that you can use G1/4 1/2" OD barbs.

The res can be a bay res (if you have a free 5.25" bay or two), the Swiftech Microres or a XSPC top / res (used on the MCP350 or 355). You could also use one of these, which has the combined res and top (similar to the XSPC top / res). Or you could use this res. Note that the latter two reservoirs come in various sizes.

Note that you may get a whooshing noise in the res if you use a bay res and it isn't completely filled (Aigo stated this). Be warned and choose carefully if you go down this route.

You may choose not to bother with a res and just use a T-line instead. This makes it more difficult to bleed the loop (it takes longer). You could always use a T-line and a res; the T-line can then be used to drain the system.

If you are using the Swiftech MCP350 or 355 with 1/2" barbs and the res you choose doesn't have a combined top, then you will need to use the XSPC top on the pump (as I mentioned previously).

You need to make sure that your pump is matched to your water block(s).

As masteryoda34 said, use 7/16" or 1/2" ID tubing with 1/2" OD G1/4 barbs. Woodbutcher uses 3/8" ID tubing on 1/2" OD barbs because he like the 'clean' look of the narrower tubing. However, this makes it very difficult to get the tubing on to the barbs due to the differences between the ID (tubing) and OD (barbs).

Note that nearly all the fittings used in water cooling are G1/4. There are some oddities, but for the most part they will be G1/4.

You can use cable ties or worm clamps to keep the tubing on the barbs.

Aigo, what would you recommend for water cooling in an Antec 900.

I was also trying to find without success, your recommendation for a bay res (to prevent the whooshing noise), which I saw in an older post.

You also mentioned using a vortex stop for the EK res - what is it and where would you buy one?

decided on the d-tek GPU block, the full card one is too expensive and like DerwenArtos12 said not really good because it limits you to one card. Found this interesting looking top/res on jab-tech any idea if this is worthy? I know a great one's already been recommended multiple times, but this top + res in one might be a worthy top + will handle my res needs too in one. Plus it might look cool filled up with UV green coolant *shrug*

EK-DDC X-RES 100

also looking at the case I ordered (Silverstone Tj07) there's no way I can get a triple 120 rad at the bottom with a PSU there. Would a single triple 120 at top be suffice?

nooo if you bought that gpu block call john directly at jab-tech and ask him to replace it with a MCW60.

the MCW60 has the lowest pressure drop out of all the gpu blocks.

The D-tek has one of the highest. :X

Also the EK-Xres is nice. However you need a vortex stop at the bottom or you'll system will cause major whirlpools and be a PITA bleeding.

Heres some pictures for your pleasure. :]

*yeah i know im a watercooling whore. Also very addicted in buying quality parts for watercooling*

So its possible to use the parts i listed with an external res to cool the components, like the one in the First pic Daw123 listed.
From the pics it doesnt look all that cramped or a difficult layout.
