Water Cooling gurus, a few questions and opinions.

Hi,
Ive been considering moving to a water cooling set up from my current one.
I have a couple of questions though.
1) Is it really worth it?
2) Is water cooling that much quieter than air cooling(more specifically a system with 6 20dBa fans)
3) A kit that ive seen(see below)seems good, but where would i mount the pump/res and the rad? Would they be loose in the case, or do they come with a way to secure them to the case?
4) Would i be better going for something like a Koolance EXOS, and are they any good?

Heres the system that i`ve seen.
WaterChill KT03-L20 CPU Cooling Kit w/VGA Cooler Block w/North Bridge Cooler Block.

Also, do any of you know anywhere in the UK that sells the new Corsair Hydrocool 200 external water cooler? Cos that seems significantly better than the Koolance.

Thanks in advance guys/gals.

Good rule of thumb for watercooling is you get what you pay for, and anything under 200 US dollars is usually not all that great. I paid over 250 for my whole system over at www.dtekcustoms.com , and I am very satisfied with it. Their stuff is very good. The corsair kit looks okay, and the koolance isn't bad either but noisy in the performance mode. If you need a kit I'd strongly recommend Innovatek kits over anything else.

Best bet would be to check out overclcokers.com. They have a great h2o forum.

I went water. I love it.

Is that your case? If it is then, wow, what a mod, it looks amazing. Little messy on the wiring though, but i can hardly talk, mines like a jungle!

P4s run cooler than AthlonXPs though, so i`d proably get higher temps that you, by quite a bit. I was considering getting a gpu and chipset block as well for it, so everything is water cooled.

Do you live in the UK Mingon? Cos the the site is a NTL one. If so, where did you get the thermaltake cooling ducts from?

I`m not entirely sure, but i think that because the P4s core isnt as complex as a AthlonXPs core, then it runs hotter. Thats also why you can get some amazing OC`s out of P4s, cos they run cooler.

I allways thought that it was the other round....

You can get amazing Oc's from XP's as well (the 2100 series running at 2.3Ghz from 1.73Ghz stock speed - and the 1700 getting like double there stock speed 😀)

Dont discount the Koolance, it keeps my P4 @3.5ghz.
Mingon, how loud is the Koolance? Cos the koolance system that you have is identical to the Exos, apart from the Exos has everthing inside one box.
Have you ever tryed it on a AMD processor? I`d like to know what sort of temperature you get with a AMD processor on a koolance system.

But what about the temps? I suppose it depends on the cooling really.
Ive been trying to find a store thats in the UK/Europe that delivers to the UK, and supplys the Corsair Hydracool 200, ive heard very good things about it.

Yeah I am UK based and thats my case, just finished, but still need to sort out the wiring. The thermaltake duct I imported from 1coolpc who used to be 3dfxcool used them quite often.

As for temps, my current P4 which is running at 1.575v/145fsb for 3.33ghz (it does 3.5 normally - but have had some issues with the IC7 mobo) are 50c under full load running mode 1 - which is near silent. That temp seems high - but its an abit mobo and they give high readings - the thermal probe on the water block reads 30c so the actual temps are probably half way between.

As for AMD - processors I had a 1.1tbird which would only do 1.133 on air - 1.266 on water and a 1800xp tbred a @ 1.930 ghz, I think the ideal AMD chip for a koolance would be a Barton core, komplett have them for £64 and they o/c well - my SN41G2 shuttle runs 11*182 - 2002mhz default vcore - I would expect at least 2.3ghz with some added vcore

How long does it take for 1coolpc to deliver?
Ever had any problems with them?
What about other costs, such as delivery costs, taxes, ect;?

Takes about 5 days, never had a problem. shipping is a pain keep the order under £50 and no custom charges. They are the only people I could find that had the duct that I had used before.
