Hey!

I'm going to start watercoolign again and I'm curious if I MUST use a block designed for the Athlon64 because they are pretty pricy.

I want to keep the whole setup under 120 bucks so I was thinking of the following

Via Aqua 1300 - 25 shipped
Heatercore 86 chevette - 20 at autozone
metal for a shroud or various duct tape methods? heh - 5 bucks
CPU block?!? I was thinking about a -25 dollar spiral heatsink for socket a but not sure it would work
VGA block.. dunno.. want something cheap that does alright

I don't have the standard socket a holes but is there a hold down that will work on A64 Mobos for the socket blocks. Would it really be worth it?

My video card is a sapphire oem 9800pro

Thanks for any hints/tips on parts or suggestions.

Yes you need a A64 specific block, or at least mounting equipment.

What he said. It doesn't look like you have to pay a premium for them either. DD's TDX and RBX blocks are the same price for A64 or A32.

I guess so... the spiral block is 25 bucks but heck the mounting plate will put it up in prices with the other stuff.

On the heatercore fro Autozone.. do I NEED barbs? I don't think I can attach them if I do.. might be better off buying them already attached from the net.. but the price goes up atleast 10-15 bucks
