Hitachi is developing a water cooled laptop. Very cool!! The estimated retail is $2941 though. They are calling it the Flora 270W Silent Mode. The working prototype is a 1.8Ghz P4, 128 MB DDR RAM, 20 GB Hard drive, ATI Radeon Moble 32Megs of ram, and a 15-inch TFT screen. The solution lasts for more than 5 years, the tubing can circulate the solution 20000 times, and the pump works for 44000 hours. It weighs about the same as a reg lappy, but is way quieter. If I had the cash to burn I would def buy one. There are pics here. If I get anymore info I'll post it.

I kinda prefer Apple's method of just using a chip that runs cool enough not to need a fan.

I dont like the idea of having liquid in my laptop. If you work at the IT helpdesk, you quickly see how many laptops get dropped. General rule is water + electronics = bad.

A lot of people in my office have experimented with coffee-cooling their laptops and a few have even tried salad dressing, soy sauce and diet coke. It doesn't work very well.

I would assume htey would use a NON-conductive liquid such as at LEAST mineral oil

The Apple Titanium PowerBook is already water cooled. It doesn't use a pump but it does use piping with liquid moved by convection.
