Putin, being an old KGB hand, I'm sure has plenty of experience with crappy Soviet-era cars barely working

Kind of a misleading title though, hopefully this was just some simple problem (test mule low on fuel, whatever), as it seemed to run okay after starting. It's a good thing to have cheap simple cars for people to get around with. It looks better than most subcompact jobs (Aveo .. *shudder*).

They had to remind them it runs on Gas, not Vodka.

They used to sell Lada cars in the UK in the 80's and early 90's, then they were stopped as they couldn't meet emission standards. They were always really, really bad cars.
