for those who watch tv on their computers via a tv tuner... how do the picture compare to the quality on ur normal tv? i have an ATI AIW 9000, and after i set it up last nite, i compared it to my tv and i definitely see that the picture is more crisp on the tv. is this a common thing, or just me?

With my PVR box, the video quality going (cable box->PVR150->TV) seems comparable to going (cable box->TV). Of course, I'm also running some video filters over it in the computer, which might help somewhat. This is with Comcast digital cable.

I have an AIW 9800 and Dell2001FP 20.1"LCD, and the picture on my computer is too crisp and sharp. The cable signal just isn't good enough, and the monitor and video card are too good. However, most times I only watch TV in a smaller window, as I work, so used in that way, the picture looks really nice.

What filters are you running?

I've been playing around with ffdshow a bit... just some slight blur and upscaling (to 800x600) filters, for the moment. The CPU in that machine (AXP2000+) can't really do much more while also capturing and playing back video!

Note that I'm watching the video on a regular SDTV through the S-Video out of a RADEON 9600 -- I'm *not* watching it on a computer monitor.

forgive me, for i'm not completely understanding what you mean. are you saying that on your computer, watching tv is just as crisp and sharp as the picture on your regular tv? if that is the case, why did you mention that the signal isn't good enough?

What I'm saying is that the signal coming from the cable is not good enough. My ATI card and Dell monitor are very sharp, therefore you can see all the problems with the cable signal, and I don't really have any control for sharpness or blur on the monitor, so I get basically a picture like you would see on your TV if you turned up your sharpness to 100%.

i'm in the same boat... i don't think my TV picture on my 2005fpw is the best.

running Hauppauge pvr250 and cable. I even have a separate cable line with a signal-booster-thingy that cable co put on. This is regular analog cable, not digital.

when i have a small TV window, it looks great, but when I maximize - kinda fuzzy.. i may try to fool around with ffdshow...

any tips on that Matthias99?

I have the new Hauppauge pvr150 with cox cable and when people pass my computer they think I am watching a TV. The picture is just as good as a television.
