I have always wanted a TV Tuner card for my computer and I am finally going to make the purchase, but before I do I wanted to make sure I will be ok as far as compatibility and what I need.

Currently my rig is as follows:
Mobo - EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6600
GPU - EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP
Memory - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ
Hard Drive - Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
Power Supply - CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W Power Supply
Case - Antec Performance One P180 Silver cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Monitor - SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor

This is a card I have come across via NewEgg:

Is everything going to be compatible and am I missing anything else besides the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600?

Edit: Forgot to mention, I do use Windows Vista Home Premium.

Do you want a computer specific card or do you basically just want to watch TV on your monitor? I use 3 different external TV tuners for my 3 computer systems. The good thing about external is I dont have to turn on my PC to watch TV on my monitors.

You didn't mention speakers, but I assume you have some. Your PC should have no trouble dispaying TV on your computer. (Show off!)

The only compatibility problem I see is you should know that the Vista MCE included in your Home Premium, does not support the QAM tuner on the HVR-1600. It will work with the analog tuner, but then you'll only have one tuner available.

If you just want to watch TV in real-time, you can use the WinTV software that comes with the card. If you want to record, you can try out GB-PVR.

Thanks.

It sucks that MCE will not support the QAM :(

I still ordered it because I hate trying to watch TV on my little TV and don't really feel investing in something more expensive.

MCE does support QAM, just have to have the right tuner. I have an HD Homerun and use the QAM tuner constantly, I have over 60 channels with my QAM tuner.

The HD Homerun is doing the QAM decoding. It then places it in an ATSC wrapper for use in MCE so MCE itself doesn't actually require support for QAM with that particular unit.

There are rumors that Vista MCE will get QAM support when SP1 is released, but there's still no verification of that.
