I have recently arrived at college and I'm wondering whether an LCD Monitor or an LCD TV would be a better investment. If I get an LCD monitor, I would like to be able to watch TV on it. I'm interested in a big LCD --Around 24" if its a Monitor and around 26" if its a TV. As I understand, if I get an LCD monitor, I will have to also buy a TV Tuner. I know the resoultion of the TV tuner will be much lower than what I would run the LCD Monitor at with my computer, but it still be a quality picture? I also know I can hook up my laptop to the LCD TV, but the resolution will be lower than what I'm currenlty running it at (1680 X 1050 on an Acer Ferrari). Will I get any benefit--in terms of productivity, screen size, etc.--in running the lower resolution on a bigger screen?

Right now I'm using a laptop which has a Radeon Mobility X700 Video Card in it. I'm not sure about the highest resolution it supports, so I want to make sure the LCD Monitor I buy is supported by the card.

Suggestions and reccomendations from anyone with exprience in this area is appreciated.
