Watching the Saddam pre-trial hearings...

Amused

Why the fsck don't they shut him up? The judge has NO control in that court. They are allowing him to make irrelvant speeches and totally control the court.

This is going to be a farce. If he was in an American court, he'd be gagged and allowed to speak only when appropriate.

Yeah, I was reading this editorial today that said it was a bad decision to hand him over, since they don't know how to really run a court.

"Sadly, by allowing substandard Iraqi courts to try Saddam Hussein and his henchmen, the Bush administration has squandered a great opportunity to punish a well-deserving felon and extend the reach of international law in the process."

I think they're letting him talk because he's the best comedian to come out of Iraq since Abdul Mohammad Hossen Carrey. "I'm the President of Iraq!" He he, of course you are. 😀

I'm interested but I work

I'm interested, but I'm waiting for my dish to be hooked up. :|

You know, people post news articles in Off Topic all the time. yellowfiero posts several a day, usually about something "outrageous" happening. Some child killer being released from prison, or being found mentally incompetent to stand trial or something like that. Nobody complains. As soon as it is remotely related to the war or anything involving politicians, people start threadcrapping about the wrong forum. If this was posted in P&N, it would degernate into Bush and Kerry bashing. Hopefully that won't happen here.

Wasn't that judge appointed by Saddamn originally?

What a waste of money. Just take saddamn out back and feed him to dogs.

I agree, it seems that the first reply to a post is a poor attempt at humor or they try taking a huge dump on the thread. I don't understand the negativity... Just ignore threads your not interested in, that makes the most sense to me.

That editorial writer doesn't even pretend to not have a huge bias against Bush right off the bat. It really does make it difficult to take him seriously.

Wow, I had to give up reading it the bias was so bad. I don't want to be sifting through a bucket of sh!t to find a kernal of truth.

they probably just want him to make incriminating statements or statements that show how fvcked up he is in the head.

The amount of evidence against him is astounding, its in history books even lol... he doesnt have a prayer in even the crappiest most crooked court.

Most experts expect this trial to turn out like Milosivics, which is two and a half years into it, and the defense is about to call 1500 witnesses. Just like in Milosivics case, there is not smoking gun in Saddams case. If there was a fair trial, it would be a difficult case to try. Not saying Saddam wont be found guilty, genocide and war crimes are just hard to prove.

Can't they just give him one of those taser belts where the judge pushes a button....?

That's what I was thinking. This is going to be a mess if they don't control their courtroom.
