Watching S-Video on TV

Hi,
I have recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A65-S-1062 laptop. The details of the video card are

ATI Mobility RADEON 7000 IGP graphics with 64MB shared video memory; S-video TV-out

I have been trying to connect the TV out of this lapto to my TV. I bought a small cable with the S-Video connector at one end and the RCA-Video female connector at the other end. Then I connected the TV-out of the laptop to the TV using this connector. Then I went to Display->Advanced where I get to chooose between the laptop screen/TV and one more output. HOwever it doesnt let me enable the TV option and says that the TV is not connected. I also tried doing funnction-f5 thing but never get the display to work. The tv flickers but nothing else happens.

Any help/ideas suggestions. My TV is Toshiba MW24FM1

Is there a red tab next to TV in the display options? this confused me to begin with on my HP. You would have to click the red tab then select either primary or secondary display and then apply or ok.

Ther tab is there, but it is disabled and in grey. Also the text below the icon of TV says "not-connected". I was wondering if it was something deeper than that. Maybe I have a setting wrong or the resolution too high for the TV ??
