NASCAR sucks and is boring.
Sorry I am an elitist.....

That's OK, we need plenty of your type to hang when the Revolution comes.

Long live the confederacy!!!!111oneoneone

AHAHAHAHAH..that was so stupid and yet I can't stop laughing

ditto

Road racer do enter the race every year usually 4-8 of them and about half are in high quallity rides. None have won since 1973.

for you nascar fans, i honestly would like to know why it is so popular, respectfully. all i know is it had its origins in liquor bootlegging.

You have to look at the intelligence and education of the typical NASCAR fan. "Turn left Bubba!!" is about the most complex thought they can hold in their heads for more than 2 seconds at a time. That makes all other sports too difficult for them. It's either watch NASCAR or watch people circle the parking lot at Wal-Mart looking for a better spot.

wow way to go you elitist bastards. I happen to like nascar. Why is it any easier than F1 or CART? If people actually liked to watch that crap, it'd be on fox instead of the Speed channel at 3 a.m.

I think there is more interest in NASCAR because it is more exciting long straight aways mean more passing, unlike F1. Even more so when you think about WRC, where there is no racing against people, you are racing against the clock.

A good racecar driver is a good racecar driver. Some excel more at certain tracks, but if a driver has "it", then he's got it.
Put him in any type of race car and he'll be competitive. Put the best Nascar drivers in F1, with equivalent equipment to the current top drivers, and they'll be right there with them.
Flip it around and put the best F1 dudes in Nascar, with good equipment, and they'll do well. In fact, the F1 guys might have a better chance in Nascar, since the playing field is much more level. In F1, if you aren't driving a Ferrari, Mercedes, or Renault, you aren't competitive.
Same thing with the middle-of-the-pack drivers. Put Kyle Petty in any other form of racing, and you'll likely see similar results to what he gets in Nascar.

I watched Days of Thunder. There IS a difference. Open wheel racing is not the same as NASCAR. Just ask Cole Trickle. He didn't perform the same once he moved to NASCAR.

now if only they cancel nascar and put WRC (or any kind of real road car racing) on tv instead.

If WRC (or any kind of real road car racing) brought in the money that NASCAR did I'm sure it would have a presence on TV.

yupp... gotta watch events that allow tv nwetworks to slap ads and stickers on everything:roll:

HA F1 is THE BIGGEST MOTORSPORT in the world. It's kinda like football outside the us (soccer in the us).

Montoya going from CART to F1

You can't compare CART to Nascar.

I disagree with Pac's claims. I dont think Nascar drivers can be competitive in F1 (didnt Jeff gordon or someone famous in Nascar already tried F1 and gave up?), just as likely F1 drivers wont do that well since its a different type of racing (though I suppose they could learn).

There are no long straights in Nascar and the shortest track in F1 is just over 2 miles around. I believe it is Monaco. Most tracks are 3+ miles and they do have some fairly long straights. The problem with passing in F1 is that it takes a very long straight to get a draft going and unless you have that it is really difficult to get close enough to the car in front of you to setup a pass due to the aerodynamics and the loss of downforce while following another car closely.

BTW-Jeff Gordon drove a Williams at Indy on the road course a couple years ago and he was within a couple seconds of the pole time the prior year after only a few laps. He was impressive in the Williams but I don't think many other drivers in Nascar could be competetive in F1. Certainly not any of the drivers over the age of 35 anyway. You need to be young and in top physical shape to drive an F1 car. None of the old farts in Nascar could do it.

i apologize for his comment, but like i said i honestly want to know what the fuss is about. there are thousands of people and millions of dollars going into it, and i want to know why. i just don't see it. something for the family to all join in on i guess.

btw next to top fuel, i think F1 is at the pinnacle of automobile racing technology, no? as far as engineering goes.. then WRC just looks so damn fun.

oh well, everyone is always going to have their own tastes.

top fuel... pinnacle of auto racing? lol

EDIT: If people think NASCAR is boring and a bunch of no talent drivers, how is drag racing any different? 😕
