Watching Mars Tonight?

I swear to God that I saw on TV that mars will be the closest it gets to earth in it's orbit tonight. In fact I was told that it should appear almost as large as the moon. I can't find info on this anywhere!? Does anyone know when/if this is going to happen and for the love of all that's holy do you have a link to it?

...or am I going insane?

Mars will never appear as big as the moon from Earth (unless something severe happens and it moves closer somehow), but it might appear as bright as the moon occasionally.

However, this is from space.com:
Mars is too close to the Sun to be observed easily this month. But don?t give up, you can find out all you need to know about Mars at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory?s Mars website (http://marsprogram.jpl.nasa.gov/), and on Space.com!
