All I can say is WTF? This movie is seriously weird and gross, borderline annoying. Should I turn it off?

It's a tough movie to watch, and even tougher to make an interpretation of what you've seen. Mulling over a movie for days or weeks to try and come to a conclusion of sorts isn't for everyone, and I myself am still undecided on whether I liked it.

heheh that movie is pretty messed up... the highlight of the movie IMO is when the embryonic slug fetus things start flying.

I watched another David Lynch film tonight, Blue Velvet. It has quite a cult following. It was surreal, but I wasn't left thinking "wow, brilliant!".

eraserhead is great, as are blue velvet, mulholland drive, the elephant man, and most of what Lynch produces...

Call me daft but I just didn't get it. I felt a little perverted watching it, even.

What, in your view, were things that made it great?

Its not the kind of movie you watch by yourself, you need a few friends and a case of beer. No point making wisecrack to yourself.

Honestly I couldnt even tell you anymore =)
I saw it years ago when I was actually in a film studies class (we spent a whole day just on the opening scene- things like how everything is perfectly centered, camera in all the shots in completly still with just the objects moving in the scene, contrast of the happy suburbs w/ the bugs underground etc etc).
I do remember really liking the directing style and the story (though it took a couple viewings to grasp it - well some of it =)) but like I said I really dont remember the details anymore other than the impression I had of the film. Actually one that I've been meaning to see again.
