The NTSC DVD resolution is 720x480 pixels according to specs.

just wondering if you get better image quality when you watch dvds (powerdvd/windvd) in that resolution.

I dont, i use my normal 1368x1026 custom reso (powerstrip) - and then the DVD players stretch the display to fit the screen. (watching full screen)

I am wondering if the stretching/scaling also means loss of image quality...

setting my desktop to 720x480 (to meet NTSC DVD specs) turned out not useable (Icons/Windows too big etc...)

I wonder why the players like powerdvd and windvd dont have an option for fullscreen in a specific resolution ?!

any thoughts on that ?

I watch mine scaled with my HTPC to 1080i (1920x1080 @ 30Hz) to my widescreen display. PQ is stunningly good.

lol, you dont need to do anything. Just hit Z for full screen.

the problem is NOT that i dont know how to view in FS (lol)...but the resolution the screen has in comparison to the CD specs !

If you watch fullscreen the screen has the same reso as the desktop (see powerstrip, assign hotkey and look at the OSD and see the resolution of the screen in Fullscreen !) - same as desktop !!!

Weird - because it might be the case that if you would switch the desktop to 720x480 and THEN watch the dvd in a screen with this resolution you might get better image quality. Because there is no scaling needed !

well, I watch all my stuff in tv out, so the res is 640x480 or 800x600, and hitting full screen, it looks like a normal dvd.

It really doesn't matter. DID software players impose their own resolution regardless of what your system is set for.
