so how does he get audio input?
Like I said, I don't have this vid card, but I'm pretty sure the RCA Stereo audio output (left and right RCA jacks) would just plug directly into the sound card's "input" jack (usually a 1/8" stereo plug). I tried to download the manual from the Gainward site, but their site does not seem to be working too well. Do you have the manual for this card? Did you get anything with this card?

I have an ATI AIW card which has a VIVO cable that includes the Left and Right audio connectors as well as the S-Video and composite video connectors. The AIW card has a 1/8" stereo connector that plugs into the "input" jack of the sound card. I believe that this is just a pass-thru interface and I could get the same result if I just plugged the DirecTV receiver's audio output into the sound card directly.

I didn't get anything WITH the card, bought it off AT:F/T ;)

So what type of Svid cable should I buy?

Thanks for all the help

Yup, from the picture, you definitely have a VIVO Function as with most of the NV Cards.

As far as the cables are concerned, you need a VIVO Cable, it will plug into that Pin Slot and Convert the other end into S-Video I/O, i still donjt understand why you didnt got cables in your package.

Secondly, have you got the software from gainward which is required for Viewing any input streams, it should be on CD, any how i believe audio will a Big problem, i tried every thing but couldnt get the Audio to work on my Ti 4200.

So the VIVO cable will plug into the slot that almost looks like a big monitor connection thing? I bought my Ti 4200 off AT, he didn't have the cables but it was a good deal ;)

The VIVO cable will plug into the round S-Video looking connector, not the big rectangular connector (that is the DVI connector for LCD monitors).

There's no need to keep bumping this topic -- you have all of the info you need now. Your only problem now is to find the VIVO cable -- google is your best friend here;)

I can't tell from your pictures very well (pretty out of focus) but, it appears that the S-video connection on your card only has four pins. If thats the case, you only have TV out and no video in capabilities.

Look at the S-video connection count the pin holes and report what you find. That will change what is required drastically.

EDIT: Gainward made two versions based on the Ti4200, one that has VIVO and on that has just VO. So, just because you have a Gainward, doesn't mean you have VIVO.

Final words.........

I am sure even if you find your VIVO Cables you will still not be able to hear Audio nor is there such a guarentee that you will get a super quality Video.

If you really want to Watch TV and that just what you want, it worth spending some cash on TV Tuners, nor do you have to spend so much, i own a Unknown Brand TV Tuner and it works fine, may be short of features but still it work......

It's amazing that you are continuing to give bad advice on this subject even when you still don't quite understand what he is trying to accomplish.

First of all, a DirecTV feed through an S-Video input should give a better quality picture than with a standard cable or antenna connected to a TV card.

Secondly, I've already explained that there should be no problem getting sound directly through the sound card. Thousands of people have been using their VIVO cards successfully without problems with sound. It is NOT an inherent problem with VIVO cards.

Third, wkabel23 has given no indication that he even has an analog source that could be used for TV input. I repeat: either an analog cable or antenna connection is needed for TV card functionality to be useful.

Of course, all of this may be moot if Dead3ye is correct in that the photos show that this card has only Video Out and no Video In.
