Watching a movie on my TV or HDTV using my computer

Hello,

I have 2 laptops. A dell that has a VGA output, and also a Macbook Pro that has a DVI output. I also have 2 televisions, one that has RCA inputs, and also an HDTV that has HDMI inputs.

On Monoprice, I found a VGA-RCA cable (to connect my dell to my old TV), and also a DVI-HDMI cable (to connect the macbook to the HDTV).

Here is the situation - according to the MacbookPro manual, the DVI cable does not carry sound, and needs a separate micro-jack-to-RCA cable to carry the sound.

My question is: Do I need a seperate cable to carry the sounds from my Dell to my standard TV?

VGA carries no sound, so you'll need a 3.5mm headphone jack to RCA converter so that you can get sound to your TV. I'm also assuming that the Netflix VOD movies are at or below SD.

Yes you will. My Vizio LCD has a 3.5mm input which makes it easier, but it sounds like you will need 3.5mm-to-RCA like ObscureCaucasion said.

Netflix streaming looks like crap IMHO...like a blown-up youtube video.
