Because he sure shoots like one. He rolls across the ground and 3 unaimed shots in rapid succession from a colt45 at 3 japanese rushing down a hill and they all die. He's like a robot or something.

And were they facing the one core of Japanese troops that were utterly retarded in that last scene? Despite being surrounded an extremely numerically superior Japanese force that had high ground and better cover, they were safe to chat about who's going to die and what not without being shot by some guy with a rifle.

I guess a movie just isn't a movie anymore if the hero isn't killing boatloads of bad guys in a horribly unrealistic way.

Well, its not so much unrealistic movies...because I enjoy a good over the top kungfu movie or a comic book movie...but its a WWII movie and that stuff just doesn't belong in that genre. The only thing it was missing was a cold hearted overmuscled Japanese antagonist for Nicholes Cage to have a drawn out knife fight with at the end.

I understand, just joke'n... Now that I think about it, I guess I only like fairly realistic war movies like: blackhawk down, thin red line, band of brothers, etc.

I'd like to call your attention to the fact that John Woo directed Windtalkers, hence the inevitable Hollywoodization of what could have been a pretty good flick. I saw it a while back and wasn't incredibly impressed, though it wasn't terrible either.

this movie could have had so much potential. Instead it turned out to be a turd bucket.

 Being a WWII buff I was naturally looking forward to it. After I saw it I was very disappointed since it reminded me of Rambo meets the Japanese. My sister bought me the DVD and I have yet to watch it but for that one time.

I may drag it out again on a rainy day for the hell of it but Saving Private Ryan it isn't. :(
