That movie has too many stories within a story that it was hard to follow. But I liked the end story where he rips off the guys "weapon".

Within a story? I don't think they were within a story, they just made brief references to each other sometimes.

I thought it was overrated.

It wasn't bad, I've just heard way too many people saying things like "top five movies ever" about it.

Well yeah..they have no clue.

I liked it though.

Awesome movie. If for nothing else, the unique visuals. But I loved the storys as well.

They're all gonna die in this alley, not for revenge, but to remind others that come here what will happen to them. Guess I should admit I loved reading comics, would love to see berserk get similar screen time as this. Although the violence in this would pale in comparison.

It wasn't that good.

Compared to the shi+ that's out now (and at that time), it was incredible.
 Obviously you are easily entertained.

It beats the hell out of "Shawshank Redemption" and the other movies preferred by numbskulls on this board. And no, I'm not easily entertained.

I, and 82, 364 others?
Same reason Britney Spears sells millions of records.

Stupid.

Well I rate it highly for the style, mostly. I loved the high contrast B&W, and comic book characters & physics. I found all other comic book based films (spiderman, Xmen etc etc etc etc etc) to be weak compared to this.

I wouldn't say they are stupid just easily entertained. I agree that the the style was impressive the story was weak.

No, I'm saying that you're stupid for comparing Frank Miller to a bubble-gum pop "artist". Just because thousands of people like something doesn't mean it's crap, or that it's like everything else preferred by thousands of people.

I gave it a three out of four. It is not one on my list of the best 5 movies ever. But that is my opinion.

I try not to argue matters of taste.

I once over heard a guy say that "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" is the best movie ever.

😕

Actually you're not too bright, I'm not comparing Frank Miller to Britney Spears, I'm suggesting that many of those who think that movie is great are doing so because of the hype. For a comic it's ok but as a movie the plot was weak at best.

You're not too bright. Frank Miller sells millions of movie tickets for the same reason Britney Spears sells millions of records-- that's basically what you said, as any reasonable person would agree (but not necessarily you). They are both artists, each producing a different sort of entertainment product.

You say this for no good reason, of course-- it's your opinion and nothing else. That's okay; it's just a stupid opinion since it's based on nothing. The analogy is false. About the only supporting statement you made was that the plot was weak, but I doubt that you'd be able to offer a decent analysis.

Actually my opinion is based on what I've observed about your generation which I believe most of this movies fans belong too. You are easily swayed by hype which is why mediocre movies such as this one is a hit and why mediocre music such as Spears is so popular.

why do you say it is mediocre?

i've noticed the movies lately have no replay value. even movies i thought were pretty good the first time around. for example, i thought Batman Begins was a decent batman film, but frankly it has no real replay value. i tried watching it again recently on HBO and it just bored me to tears.

Sin City was the same way, it seemed pretty good the first time thru, but not so good on replay.

Shawshank Redemption i've seen 4 or 5 times and it seemed pretty good each time.

sin city was badass, but it wasn't a GOOD movie, it was entertaining. The Godfather gives me chills every time I watch it

The story line/plot was convoluted and disjointed. The style, makeup and such was good by the story was just not that interesting. After wathing it fo 30 minutes it just got boring.

Style without substance. Shawshank is watchable over and over again because it has substance. Sin City, while I enjoyed the movie, I have only seen it once at the theaters. All style, very little substance. I agree with Red, the story just isn't very interesting, and stories are what make great movies.
