What I can tell you is that when output through my set, FMJ is crap compared to The Shining. No contest.
😉
This will only encourage me to re-watch both these movies back to back just to prove a point.

Seriously, can your plasma input 1080i? If so, set your player to output 1080i, should make Full Metal Jacket look better.

Sony.

Gotta read blu-ray.com to get the Lawrence of Arabia news.

Oh right...hehe, forgot that about Lawrence.

I've had my PS3 outputting 1080i up to this point, so that would be my comparison. However........I must say that this can't be a true comparison, b/c I have FMJ on BD, and The Shining on HD DVD. While the PS3 is set to 1080i, my A2 is outputting 720p. 😱

This reminds me that I need to noodle around with a few more tests 🙂

There was a new version of Lawrence of Arabia recently released to HDnet. Lawrence of Arabia is in the works for Blu-ray, but I guess expect a 2009 release. Gandhi will apparently be Sony's big project this year. Being the movie that Lawrence of Arabia is, Sony's not just rushing it out the doors. They'll probably package it all up like they did with Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Ja, I was gonna say... there have been some very nice broadcasts of Lawrence of Arabia including 20Mbps AVC.
