*****UPDATE*****

The graphics technical director on Watch Dogs just tweeted that these aren't the official specs, the real specs will be out soon, and they will be lower than those.

Min spec of x64, 4Gb of RAM and quad core, we're well on our way to leaving this horrible generation behind, I'm a fan of these "upgrade or lose out" moments, we can finally push the boundaries of what is capable in PC gaming. Glad to see this.

we are finally going to start seeing games more optimized for multi core, its a good thing these new consoles have 8 cores

Wow, does that mean my sandy bridge i5 doesn't even meet recommended specs?

That's some hardcore requirements.

Looks like I'll be squeaking by at minimum, next year will definitely be upgrade year.

Finally! This will give me a reason to upgrade that the wife might actually buy. I knew I was screwed when she walked by and saw how well BF4 beta was running on my "old" PC.

Excellent I already have near enough "next gen" hardware and have done for 2 years. Rock it on that 3930k is finally paying off :)

It would be nice to see consumer 8-core CPUs now that games are going that route.

3770k or 3770 not even have 6 core.It has only 4 core and 8 threads and it is only 10 to 15% father than there i5.

I want to ask that will my 3570k fine for this game i have overclocked it to 4.3GHz

Based on the relatively performance of the CPUs in a console I am pretty certain you'll have a lot more performance in those 4 cores than any console has today. I am not really sure why Ubisoft is calling for 8 core CPUs at ultra, presumably that is a setting beyond what the consoles can do and has been enabled by their new more threaded engine. There aren't a whole lot of 8+ core CPUs out there right now. They are listing a 3930k as an example for the 8 core, so they either got that wrong or HT is doable.

One thing i have notice is that this game is fully optimized for nvidia
for example 7970=GTX 670 equal performance for this game

Well, looks like I'm gonna be skipping this one. Nothing in the previews screamed "Look at this, we're actually using that horsepower for something cool." Looked fun, but not "Upgrade your motherboard and processor" fun.

The sub-150 dollar AMD FX 8xx0 don't count?

Also, these smell fishy to me. Maybe its just YouTube quality, but the gameplay videos I've seen of Watch Dogs simply don't look good enough to justify those kind of requirements.

I dont know either. With specs like that seems like they would be appealing to hardcore gamers, but eliminating a lot of potential customers as well. Dual core doesnt even meet min specs?? Wow. And DX 11 only.

With specs like this, I think they would drive a lot of people to consoles. I know PC should be better graphically, but unless they upgrade gameplay elements as well, that is a big price to pay.

I just got a new computer (5 years since last upgrade) so I'll be able to play Ultra. I hope this game ends up being as good as it has looked in the previews.

Another 64 bit title. Looks like 32 bit is finally going the way of the dodo

If there's anything Crysis taught us, it's that there's a sizeable group of PC users that will judge a game on required hardware. It doesn't matter if the reason for that is because it's horribly optimized, as long as you need a machine from the future they're happy.
