I think somebody who appreciates watches would favor a Breitling over a Rolex, but that is just my wild ass guess.

Stay the hell away from Tag. Pretentious would be Rolex. A bit more classy, in my opinion, would be Breitling. Seikos are nice, but in a different sort of category. Omegas are real nice too and I don't think they are as pretentious as Rolex, however, they too really are like a 'level' below Rolex. That being said I do love vintage Omegas.

What kind of clothing would you be wearing it with? And how often? To what sort of occasions, or casual?

business casual, jacket and tie events, meetings with people of importance, etc.

If you're not crazy about watches, and I assume you're not, you should probably just pick up a decent replica.

I'll likely never buy a watch that isn't automatic. There's something inexplicably awesome about Rolex's tourbillons.

I can't really say I understand. If you don't truly appreciate the watch, then what makes it worth $5-10K? Most people couldn't tell the difference between a replica and authentic, and there are even some great replicas that can only be identified as fakes when brought to the companies that make the original.
But to each his own.

The whole point of having a 5k watch is to own a 5k watch. Getting a replica just makes you a poser. Other people might not know but OP would know and that's enough

Actually, OP wouldn't and that's why he asked. Insecurity is his issue. If not, why post this topic?

Jacket and tie? People of importance? This sounds like another of your polls, which you try to post 3-4x a day.
How about this, pick a watch like "people of importance" do: ignorant of brand, but knowledgeable of appearance. It either speaks for itself or it doesn't. You know or you don't. We can't tell you what kind of watch to buy.
I must disagree. Some people can appreciate the elegance of a beautifully made watch. Such as how an automatic watch can keep time so well and accurately. Owning a $5k watch to own a $5k watch does make you a poser.Originally posted by: Mo0o
