so 320$ for how many gigs?

For 300GB. Not bad consider we are dealing with enterprise level HD and storage controllers.

yes performance wise they kick ass, what do you use it for?, awfully expensive as you can get a 300GB normal 7200 RPM HDD for less then 100$

cost/performance boot ratio seems low, but if you can afford them go for it

I honestly think we need a competitor for the Raptor. For the performance the Raptor gives, I don't like the cost value of it. $150 for 150 gb's, where you could get 2x 320gb drives and Raid 0 them for the same cost. Seagate needs to drop an enthusiast level hard-drive for Serial ATA interface.

That's pretty bad ass for a single drive. The only thing I don't like is price per GB.


If HD i/o hardware can keep improving, then maybe we will start seeing 10krpm drives with the data density of perpendicularly recorded platters...
