I kinda miss it already, it was nice not knowing the mods and well, to me, everyone was an average joe.
Except the lifers.
Except the lifers.

Public moderation works perfectly fine everywhere else. Harassment doesn't mean much, it just means those who really want to be banned will get their wish granted twice as fast. Public moderation does mean moderators have to be more careful that they are banning someone for a rule break and not a disagreement. I'm not saying that has happened in the past, because in the previous system it was impossible to know.
Does this mean I can talk to Minendo / Harvey directly about an account issue?
"12) Do not contact individual moderators. Please direct violations of these guidelines to moderator@anandtech.com, AnandTech Moderator by PM or post in Personal Forum Issues to request attention for something. Please be patient with moderation requests and inquiries. Users found in violation of this directive will be given only one warning and pointed in the right direction before further action is taken."

So if we used to PM some of these people for matters other than forum issues, we no longer can?
That's what it says, at least.
I suggest 'in their official capacity' would clarify that one.

I can't speak for him, but I believe this in in regards to issues that you're having regarding guidelines and forum issues in general. If you already have a relationship with a moderator, you can of course keep PM'ing him/her.

Dang, I didn't want to read all those yet. So the admins read whatever is sent to moderator@anandtech.com also?

skace. But I wasn't banned, I changed my profile email address to a yahoo account, which in turn makes your account un-useable since anandtech will let you change it to that address but refuses to send email to that address, hence you never get any emails and cannot reset your password at all afterwards. It's a great way to ban yourself.

I think this is both good and bad. I liked the power the Mod had when they were anonymous, as now people will complain "oh how come X is a mod they're new/I'm an old member too" etc, but on the other hand it's more personal and brings in more accountability.

Funny, I just contacted hzl eyed grl a day or so ago about something and she said she had contacted "the mods" about it.
I am glad that kind of hypocrisy can go the wayside now.
Also, Perknose, whom I told once about a spammer or something and he was a rude biotch to me and said to go tell a mod owes me an apology.
And oldsmoboat who denied up and down to me that he was a mod. LIAR! LIAR! PANTS ON FIRE! I'm so naive. I believed it. : doh :
allisolm - I KNEW IT! You're a great person to be modding this place. I am glad to see you on the list.
I love this new mod accountability. Cheers
