I second this motion... Personally, I feel he would make an outstanding moderator. I am being 100% serious. He is the only reason I lurk P&N.

I would actually nominate Rainsford.

His posts are 100% quality. It's amazing to see his composure and intellect at work, especially in P&N. He is the only reason I still lurk in P&N.

If anything, make him Elite. He is the epitome of what we want Anandtech to reflect.

Aside from my adoration of a member here that I have never conversed with, I don't like the "Senior Moderator" titles. It looks like Senior Member at first glance and confuses me. Kind of like when I'm speeding and there's a Crown Victoria in my rear view mirror that resembles a cop :(

I know how it is on other forums where mods really are biased and really will ban you for arguing with them over the slightest thing. God forbid you neg a mod (rating system) at bb.com, except an IP ban the next minute, even if he insulted you.

I've never been banned from AT in 6 years. This has nothing to do with who has a guilty conscience or who gets in the way of mods. It has to do with being able to objectively look at a system and say "hey this has some flaws". I too, know how it is on other forums, where mods are public, don't have to babysit every post and don't get harassed constantly because their user community actually considers them fair and honest. Granted, it isn't like that everywhere, I'd rather strive for AT to be like a better board, than a worse board.

I used to say get rid of post count and make titles custom.

One other thing, I noticed you guys still edit threads as Anandtech Moderator. Does your account that has been flagged as a moderator not have permission to edit posts. IE, could you edit this post as Evadman, Evadman? Or is that a fusetalk limitation.

I am glad that kind of hypocrisy can go the wayside now.

Also, Perknose, whom I told once about a spammer or something and he was a rude biotch to me and said to go tell a mod owes me an apology.

And oldsmoboat who denied up and down to me that he was a mod. LIAR! LIAR! PANTS ON FIRE! I'm so naive. I believed it. : doh :

allisolm - I KNEW IT! You're a great person to be modding this place. I am glad to see you on the list.

I love this new mod accountability. Cheers
When that was going on, I wasn't yet an active moderator. I couldn't do anything about what was happening and I was, indeed, trying to contact the other mods. :p

/me hugs Adul HI!

I'm not even going to try to read everything I've missed here since last night. :Q
Oh I see. In that case I apologize for the accusation.

It's great to see you on board as a mod btw.

I'm glad I never was a Mod because I would have instantly banned about 80 people. In fact I could name them off right now, but I won't ;)
no you wouldn't have. all talk you are. :p

Culture change, huh? Don't get me started on that fiasco. That was the official beginning of the Pussification Of The AT Forums.

:music: Anandtech Forums...:sun: :gift: ...A happy place for you...a happy place for me...:music: :sun: :wine: ...No hurt feelings and a kissy smile for you...just wait and see...:music:

Granted; there was a lot of garbage that needed to be taken out, but what was done was the equivalent of killing a fly with a bazooka.

But, things seem to be looking up now and NOT b/c of the unmasking of the previous not masked moderators. I like the new forum categories and OT is definitely getting back to the way it used to be (and should've stayed).

Hopefully, we can all get along just dandy. Oh who am I kidding? :p ;)

I don't see what the big deal was, really. Other forums do it, lot of forums do it. Easier in the long run to get it all out on the table, *so to speak*.

You do understand this is a private establishment where you agreed to a little document called user agreement. The owners of this doohickey get to set those rules. You don't like the rules, go to some other forum. Pretty simple really. Why does it make you gag?

Six and Geek, maybe it would be healthy to try turning the page and starting anew, albeit cautiously. Past bad blood can fester and I have already seen a similar conflict between two nice ladies get really nasty a few years ago. For some reason, online drama between ladies seems to get much more intense and lasting and that is very sad. I like you both very much and it saddens me to see such a rift.

It really is a stupid saying. When have you ever gone to a restaurant where the food wasn't prepared correctly, and you just walked out and went across the street? Wouldn't you first send the food back and ask for it to be fixed to you liking? If everyone agreed with this kind of viewpoint "if you don't like it, leave" then companies wouldn't need customer service numbers. Did your car break down? If you don't like its reliability, buy a competitor?s.

Many people have a vested interest in these forums whether it's emotional or financial; to act like that connection doesn't exist or can be easily replaced is silly. Of course people like it here. It's a place to hang out with people that are familiar in an environment that is familiar. It?s a two way street. No single poster is needed at the site, but the better things are, the more people will come, and the more ad revenue for the owner. Everyone here wants the forums to be something that is beneficial for them, moderators and users alike, and threads like this mix the melting pot up a little.

Actually, the real reason your thought process is silly is because plenty of people have already taken your advice, hence the need for reform. Now that reform is happening, user input is what is needed, not more people leaving. I wasn't going to bother saying this, since it's pretty obvious.

Part of the guidelines is that we will remove or edit message posts that serve no purpose. Obviously, past or current guidelines, if a post is removed or edited, that is the warning to you, the user, that the post went against the guidelines in some form or fashion. Not only are you reposting it, but you admit you are in the wrong in the post where you are breaking the rules.

The guidelines also say that once you are warned about smaller infractions you should be given a vacation if it reoccurs. I can assure you that the vacation granting portion of Fuse Talk still works just fine. I can perform my own test on you if you want though.

It's not that you both have the same opinion, but I've seen RD come to your defense countless times. As I said, one or other is an "nterested party".

But groups of folks siding together to flame and bash me is ok though right?

We have the same rights in posting as regular members do,that includes the right of free association. For the record,I'm very careful around moderating issues involving people I disagree with and bring such issues up to the rest of the staff and ask them to evaluate decide such things.

As long as I'm not coming to her defense in a role as a Moderator there isn't any conflict of interest. The new rules about Mods signing any edit or lock with our handle or indentifying ourselves to those we vacation or ban should assure you of that.

What Howard is saying is that it's not ok for my husband to take my side in any discussion,I'm pointing out to him that he has no problem with groups of folks siding up against me in discussions.

People have some really misguided ideas as to what the moderator role here involves.

Per Derek.. we are here to enforce the guidelined rules as outlined by AnandTech HQ, we are not here to serve as role models,we are not put here to serve as examples to the rest of the membership. As long as neither my husband or I moderate a thread we're involved in we enjoy the same rights to post as the rest of the membership.
