OK, I think Watch Dogs can get it's own thread now, as it's not very far off apparently after Ubisoft announced their new release date, which will be May 27 this year.

New story trailer.

The story looks VERY interesting to say the least.

  • RAM: 6 GB
  • Video Card: 1024 VRAM DirectX 11 with Shader Model 5.0 (see supported list)
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9 compatible Sound Card
  • This product supports 64-bit operating systems ONLY
Recommended

  • Processor: Core i7 3770 @ 3.5Ghz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0Ghz
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Video Card: 2048 VRAM DirectX 11 with Shader Model 5.0 or higher (see supported list)

Interesting... requiring quad core cuts out how many PC gamers??

I'd say approximately half, at least according to Steam survey. But "gamers" is a nebulous term.

The majority of those people that still have dual cores likely play mostly casual and indie titles, rather than big AAA games like Watch Dogs, so it probably won't affect sales much..

Is it just me or does it look like:

Cutscene, cutscene, cutscene, QTE, cutscene, QTE, QTE, cutscene...etc

It's whatever, but seemed many ppl complained about this in Max Payne 3

I can't help but call bull on that. I mean, recommending an i7-3770? That's basically saying that the whole Sandy Bridge line can't handle it without a solid overclock. It also lends itself to the idea that it supports Hyper Threading pretty well, so any i3 should be OK, since they've got the same number of threads as a Core 2 Quad.

I don't like the recommended requirements, though. Does it really use 8 threads? How will an i5-4670K compare stock?

You didn't see the gameplay videos before november when it was suppose to release? It's pretty much like gta but with a different concept.

And yea those requirements are odd, means my pc would also have issues running it. But I'll be getting this for ps4.

I'm not sure why you feel your PC would have trouble with the game.

The game trailer looks much improved to anything seen earlier, so hopefully the delay helps polish this game up well. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays.

Is it just me or do the graphics look WAY worse than they did in the E3 stuff we saw. Maybe this was console footage.

Not sure they are reccomending i7 but I should not have problems. The witcher 2 can definately make my pc work though. I wonder what options will be available in settings. I always like to play these type of games on the console. There's still time to decide. I think I'll have enough pc games by then and not so many ps4 games.

No idea, but given many newer Ivy Bridge & Haswell i3's are actually faster than an old C2Q Q8400 (and given that i3's "look" like 4 cores to the game), I wouldn't take min requirements as being set in concrete. Despite the "next gen" hype, those 8x 2GHz Jaguar console cores barely match the same Cinebench score as an i3-4340 (approx 3.9ish for both - and that's on a perfectly scalable app with 100% load on all 8 cores, which rarely happens in games)...

I agree with VulgarDisplay though - the GFX in that trailer are surprisingly bad (not Youtube compression artefacts, but textures that overall look worse than 2011-era DeusEx:HR, let alone Far Cry3, Crysis 3, etc). If this is console footage, then they've obviously had to water it down a lot to get it to run...

Edit : I mean pause it at 15s and look at his face, then pause it at 34s and look at the skyscrapers. I'm not impressed...

The gameplay they had in novemeber or so was console gameplay and it looked good. I remember it being discussed on a tv show.

Not sure why it would need dumbed down. One of the reasons they held it back on consoles was that they patched network features and it ended up causing problems before release. It would not make sense to change the way the game is displayed.

I wonder if its ps3/360 footage.

Agreed - not sure what happened here but with those requirements they better be able to offer visuals significantly better than what's in this trailer. Looks incredibly outdated for a "next-gen" title. Gross.

That can't be next gen. ac 4 looks better than this.

I also remember seeing better footage before the consoles released. This video looked very bad lol. I mean the trailer was good story wise but graphics didn't look like what I remember seeing.

I don't see anything disappointing in the least about the trailer visually. They don't even show you enough to be disappointed about.

The rumor is that this video was ripped from the XBOX 360 release date announcement trailer and that everything we saw before was running on a GTX 680 PC.

Thats why I'm thinking this was from a 360/ps3 footage because I definately remember seeing better visuals on the Jimmy Kimmel show before the consoles were out.

Trust me I've seen every video released for this game and I really don't see anything to get all huffy about "OMG the graphics suck" because of this trailer. They aren't even showing you much of the stuff at night with all the complex reflections and shadows like they did before.

I can't believe you're contemplating getting this game for PS4 rather than PC, when you have a nice gaming rig that will mop the floor with a PS4..

Non hyper-threaded CPUs won't have issues, provided they are overclocked. I think the reason this game recommends HT CPU is because it's an open World game set in a large, and densely populated city.

The level of simulation contained therein is proportional to the amount of CPU the game requires to power these effects. And from what I've read, Ubisoft wants their version of Chicago to be as realized as possible, which is probably why an HT processor is recommended..

There will be wind simulation, water simulation, foliage simulation, weather simulation, cloth simulation and God knows what else.. Oh, and more sophisticated and complex A.I..

Some people don't have a PC next to their 50" + TV.

Some people don't have a PC next to their recliner, or couch.

Some people don't have a PC next to their wall-shaking home theater audio system.

etc.

In some cases, consoles make sense.

Cause relaxing on the reclining couch with a beer on the coffee table is superior to huddled over a monitor at the desk sometimes? lol

Pretty much these reasons. I always enjoyed open world gta style games on the consoles. I can use the controller and not have to hook it up and use xpadder on the pc.

I'm not sure what type of multiplayer this game will have but my friend is also getting it on ps4 so it would be nice to link up sometimes.

I'm pretty sure it will look good on the ps4, not like in this trailer but also not as good as it will on a computer obviously.

The textures look awful. Like they were just colors pasted onto things and not actual textures. I thought I noticed a ton of pop in also.

It's good to see graphics over gameplay attitude is still alive and well.

I wonder if entitled Chess snobs ever call a chess set "gross" because the pieces are plastic and some of them are chipped.

I'd like to say that I'm 100% certain that footage was from the last generation consoles, but according to Playstation Danmark's twitter account, it's from the PS4.....which doesn't bode well at all o_O

The footage looks completely different compared to previous PS4 footage that has been shown. I hope that they didn't go scaling back all of the next gen features for PC. That would be B.S..

Ubisoft needs to address this ASAP, because it's a concern across multiple websites..
