watch a 911 turbo try to hustle a VR4

Wow that video has a horrible remix of 10000 Maniac's "Because the Night".

Waiting for the fun to start...

Edit: Nice 🙂

Well, a pretty nice car, but am I smoking crack or does he have a PS2 built into his dash?? 😕

The 996 Turbo is AWD too.

EDIT: Also, I can't help but wonder what that 996 Turbo would have done had the owner spent the kind of money on aftermarket stuff that the owner of the VR4 did. Of course I also wonder how much faster the VR4 would have been if the owner had lightened the car instead of adding a bunch of flab (for example, the PS/2 and the wing) to it.

Is it just my imagination or did the 911 driver get terrible starts on the first two races? And yeah, that looked like a playstation in the dash

No, he's trying to play the oldest game in the book. He drives the car slow first two times to make the other guy think his car is slow. Third time, put down a lot more money and run with everything you got. But he lost at his own game.

That wing is stock on '99 VR4s. :Q

my bad, forgive me for not reading all the way through the thread title 😱

Is it just me, or is the aspect ratio on that video seriously screwed up?

The cars look way too flat to me, which would also explain the comments about a fat chick sitting on the car...

Oh my. If I bought one, the first thing I'd do would be to remove that monstrosity.

Hmm, get rid of the active aero... sounds like a good plan to lighten the car up! 😀
Heck, I'd get rid of lots of the gadgety doohickey junk in a 3S VR4... it's like that 300ZX, a lot of extraenous crap you don't need.

EDIT: crap... the "steady" camera is reminding me of seizures I get from accidentally tuning into HiRev Tooners.

Buncha weight? It's just a PS2 -- not like he put an XBOX in or something. 😀 😉

Actually, after watching the video it seems like the VR4 isn't really running a crapload of mods... but then again, they don't need a lot of expensive stuff to really get going. So if the Porsche guy spent the same amount, he might be able to afford mebbe basic boltons considering how much cheaper a VR4 is to mod. The 996 even got the jump off the line on the last race and the VR4 walked it even running fairly low boost. 1.05 bar is only around 15-16psi. I run that in my boost controllerless car. If they turned up the boost to 20psi, it would have been murder. BTW, don't street race... take it to the track... no weird uphill races (unless the strip is uphill)

Later 3000GTS... perhaps after 97?... do not have the active aero anymore... along with the two-toned exhaust... dunno about the rain sensing wipers though 😕 ... or something like that. Anyway... it did lose weight... not much but hey its still a nice car. First time i saw this video... it looked like the guy in the Turbo didn't know how to launch... was a lot closer at the last race but... still lost to a VR4... 😕 not to diss VR4s or anything because my friend's friend added a CAI... and exhaust... along with a boost controller... forgot how much higher he set it but i think he was able to run high 12s right after that... of course he mustbe launched like a :Q ...but i would've still put my money on the 911... and would've lost it if i did. 🙁

BTW, my programming teacher likes to point out that his ex-girlfriend was able to insure her VR4 as an SUV because it weighed more than 3500 pounds and was 4WD. He said she saved a good amount in insurance since it wasn't insured as a sports car.
