Ditto, through the FS/FT forum. I get by just fine, although I don't play the 'latest & greatest' games... just not enough time/interest.

Don't feel too bad. Just live, learn, and move on.

BTW, did you get an HL2 coupon with your card? Not like you'll be using it anytime soon, but... :D

hey anyone know how the radeon 9550 is? im looking to buy one from newegg for 75. need to upgrade- my radeon 8500 has a few problems. it looks like a good card (the 9550). i was looking at 9600se, but they're all 64 vs the 9550, which is 128.

9600 pro is good card. Honestly, your problem is that you are "spoiled" on the best. Guess what, sounds like you couldn't afford to buy the best at the time, so deal like the rest of us, accept what we could afford and "focus" on the positives, rather than "dwell" on the negatives.

Good advice. I know I'm lucky when the worst part of my day involves spending money on something I dont even need, trust me. I'm grateful.

honestly, if you want to see and feel a real paradigm shift in thought, sit down and write out all of the positives you can think of about the card, (don't obsess, take like 20 minutes) then sit down and read it back about ten times. Proactive memory management is frikin fabulous, glad I care to try. Its cool when you can tell you manipulated your memory on a physialogical level.

you would physically be burning in a greater, positive array of associations to that card, whenever you think about it, the chances of getting noticable pleasures sensation is much higher.

what just happened is that you researched something, then cheated yourself on an impulse buy. You felt that way, then probably found it cheaper, or something better for the same price, then dwelled on it, burning in a completely negative association to the whole thought of the card. bad enough that you felt it necessary to go to others to lessen the pain of that bad association. ;)

btw: you didn't waste your money. Thats another bad link to the card. Rather, put the card out of the whole scenario. Instead, burn the feeling you got of getting owned to the act of impulse buying in general. Then wait a few thoughts to think of the card, then think about how cool it is that you were able to get your dad that a card that will handle DOOM3, and that you are just doing your part to give back to your family.

another good example. Even though he hasn't a chance to get the money out of it, he still blends the fact that "HE HAS IT" and "IT ROCKS"

hey im still proud that my GF3 Ti500 64mb regularly kicks some gforce5200/radeon9200 arse... and i got that card 2 years ago!

a word of comfort is that HL2 is still not being released... who knows maybe a 9800pro would be too slow for it?

I never look back after buying hardware. As long as I'm happy, I dont worry about the price. I picked up a Memorex 8x burner for what i could have gotten a DL burner had I shopped a bit wiser. Dont really care though, the DVD burner is a helluva lot more then I had before I bought it.
