Waste of Money buying Amp & 2 subs! :(

Just installed my 2 subs and amp. So disappointed i alost cried, i cannot hear any difference at all! WHY...!! is it suppose to be like this? what did i do wrong?
I used 10gauge amp wires, and 16gauge speaker wires.

The power distributed is below.

I bought an 2 channel amp, amp wiring kit and 2 10" subs. What is "wire it parallel"?

the amp is 100W RMS@ 4ohms x 2channels, so i want each channel to each sub.

I wish to spend the least money possibly.

I have 2 10" LA 100W RMS@ 4ohms

I need a cheap Amp 2 channels at least 100W RMS each, and i found it at circuit city.

Is the above amp cheap and good enough? I donot care about built quality, just price and performance.

I am very new to car audio, pls stick to english, i donot understand all those terms eg. SVC, DVC etc...

Is 2 ohms or 4 ohms louder?

Thnks for any advice.

If you insist on buying cheap crap that will fail on you in a matter of months, then you will start to care about quality before long. The satisfaction of saving money does not equal the disappointment of having to replace it.

I think he's just looking for something that will make his trunk shake a little. If you trully just want to add a little more bass, that amp should work just fine (given that you don't care about the sound quality). That amp has 2 channels, so you can use one channel for each speaker. The impedance of a speaker (the ohms rating of the speaker) doesn't really determine how loud the speaker is, it just let you know how much current it will draw from your amp. Lower impedance = more wattage. But your amp has to support that low impedance though, otherwise you'll fry your amp faster than KFC fry their chicken.

Well, for starters, the ohms doesn't directly translate into "loudness"....it's just how much resistance the speakers give, and what the max resistance of the amp can handle....i would try and find one that operates well at 4 ohms, since that is what car audio equipment works at for the most part...though not a requirement.....you probably don't need 100w/channel....but hey, that's just me, my equipment works just fine @25w. Anyways, if you have any questions, IM me at Lithium381 and i'll help as best i can, good luck.

And to add more to the topic.

The impedance of the speaker (ohm) changes with frequency, so the ohm doesn't mean sh-t.
Some speakers go down to 1 ohm and they're tough on the amp.
Get an amp that can deliver lots of current without phaseshift.
My amp at home is 2*20W and it can blow doors out.

THnks guys! I know the quality is LOW, but if i buy a 3yr extended warrany for $20+, it still beats an comparable MTX for $130+ with 3yr warranty.

one more question before i head down later, what else must i buy? This is my FIRST time handling car audio and i might want to try to install myself! 😀

DO i need a farad capacitor? or fuse? i think that is what its called. How about the thickness of the speaker wires for my subs?

THNKs again.

nope..you won't be needing a cap unless you notice a visible dimming of your lights/dropped voltage of your accessores when you slam on your speakers. I have two 15"s in my trunk and a ton of neon. When i drop some low notes hard, i notice a dimming of my lights. That's a good indication to get a cap...it stores up power and discharges it when it needs to. Otherwise, the only other way to solve that is buy more power-effective equipment or get a new alternator.

Just get an amp wiring kit. If you plan on only having one amp in the back, then you're going to be safe with a kit with 10/12 gauge power lines. Check e-gay for some kits. I'd stay away from purchasing a kit from a retail chain due to the price rape. A kit at BB by Rockford Fosgate can run you up to $139.99. I purchased a similiar kit on egay for $30-40.

Other than that, just make sure you fuse your line and you should be safe.

Holler back if you need any help.

thnks! So i donot need a cap, but i need a fuse for the wires?

i only have 1 amp and 2 subs tats all.

wish i knew where to find info on installation procedures. I'll search around.
