Wasp infestation, help

I have shrubs along the front of my house and they have become inundated with wasps. There must be thousands of them flying around. What is the best way to get rid of them? Is there like a bomb I can just toss in the shrubs? There are way to many to go in poking around for the nests.

where do you live? some places have "bee control" of some sort. maybe an exterminator? unless you find the nest i'm not sure you can do anything...?

Head for Home Depot, or any other home/garden store, and get a can or two of wasp spray. They will shoot a foam twenty - thirty feet straight up, which you may need, depending on where else they have nested.

When they start nests around my place, they build them under the eves of the roof, some of which are way to high to hit with anything but this kind of product.

The instructions usually tell you to use it after sundown, because they all come back to the nest, then, and you want to wipe out the entire nest at once.

2 methods:

fire (have the garden hose running, just in case) - this worked for me.

blast 'em with a fire extinguisher.

You probably already know this, but if you do find the nest, commercial wasp sprays (Raid, etc.) allow you to stand 20 feet away and hit the thing from a distance. Once you get the nest, keep inspecting the area for a few days, as they will try to come back.

I love the warning on the can: "Do not stand underneath the nest as you're spraying." Heh.. not unless you want a face full of dying wasps; they come pouring out of the damn thing..

be careful with the wasp spray. only use it if you find the nest. that stuff kills and plants or grass you get it on. i should know, my dad chewed me out when i was a kid.

i could ask you the same thing

How do you figure?

Edit- I just realized I almost let you dodge the question. Why do you talk about white people in every thread?

Depends on the plant you spray it on.

Hey Gonads, what kind of shrubs are they in? I used my method with some junipers and it had no effect on the plants, but killed all of the wasps.

i was not aware of that. ;) i've only done it that once and figured i would be best to not to ever do it again.

Wrap some sheet-plastic around the bushes and empty a can of raid in there.

Hmm...Bushes are Inundated with Wasps...I dont think theyre likely to be nice enough to allow you to get close enough with plastic wrap to wrap the bushes. Best to Shoot that hornet/wasp spray that was mentioned earlier with the power shot of bug juice. Screw gettin too close to those things.

You get too close your apt to get a quick education in the phrase, "Mad as a nest of Hornets."
