Wasn't the United States in the process of constructing a super large particle accelerator somewhere in Texas...

They were building two, one in Texas and one in Michigan. The Michigan one was allmost completed when they canceled it and they canceled the Texas one last year.

I was not aware of the one in Michigan. Was it going to be just as large?

Yeah, superconductor supercollider or something like that. Somewhere around Waco I think.

The quit working on the supercollider because the scientists decided it was more fun to roll pennies down the funnel at the mall.

They canceled it a lonnng while ago due to costs I believe. The cost of maintaining it was in the $100's of millions per year!

But around the same time they caneled it we entered in a joint agreement with some other countries to help build one in Europe. I believe they started building it years ago.

The Europeans weren't satisfied with the one being constructed in this country?

Just because it's not on the books anymore doesn't mean it got cancelled;)

If they built one here, the scientists wouldn't have an excuse to go to Geneva to play with their super collider.
