But the (R) party came back as zombies…definitely NOT better than they were before.

Being fair they didn't say better than before. Dems are in the 2012 "just got steamrolled when they thought they were well positioned" phase, only they're gonna look at their losses and follow America. Which is to say they'll move to embrace modern Right wing shit, because Democrats follow America and Americans have made it clear they want clown fascism. Although if they want Dems to be "born again" like Republicans then that'll be exactly what we'd get anyway (basically the 90s Clintons). Unfortunately liberals are every bit as delusional as Republicans are these days.

I don't think people understand how much of 50s Cold War mentality is going around either (defense industry got a taste for war with Ukraine and Israel, but its not enough, as it never is), and we're about to go full on us vs them mentality with China (we've basically just tipped our toe in to this point). And its looking more and more like Americans are primed to go full blown Nazi level fascism for it.

Better is in the eye of the beholder.... They're winning right?

Is dems not too establishment to run a proper populist campaign like Trump did?
Could they run a Sanders type on a single issue like single payer? Secondary issue eat the rich?
Fuck no, they're taking the same donor money as R are and in it for their own behinds.

If dems ran a populist progressive campaign and promised to destroy the establishment... (themselves??)... Would they not win in a landslide?

It's not that Americans want clown fascism, it's that they're uninformed, misinformed, and have absolutely no idea how government works. For example, most swing voters this cycle voted for change because "Democrats weren't fixing things fast enough for them." If they had even a remote understanding of how government works they would know that Democrats held very minimal power for the last 4 years and Republicans were (and always have been) the ones preventing positive change with every fiber of their being.

The Democratic party is archaic and moving in the wrong direction and this is the icing on the cake for that.

After I vote in our gubernatorial primary, which I will be involved in to help elect the best candidate, I am switching from Dem to Independent. If the archaic party aparatus and the limousine neoliberals want to move even more to the right, that party is no longer worth it.

Hmmm, young inspiring and upward moving congresswoman with a huge social media following that really engages people and is also known for embarrassing Trumpers in hearings or let's do a 74 year old with a terrible cancer.

Oh, and for all the people holding Pelosi up as a great lawmaker for the last decade or so, I guess you can all eat shit now.

More than one thing can be true at the same time. She has been very effective and wielded the kind of power basically everybody in that body only dreams about having. She, like many others, will refuse to give up office even though they are past the sell by date. There is no movement inside the party analogous to the Tea Party for the Rs that is likely to cause older leaders to be shunted aside which is why they often lose promising younger members to other offices (governorships, Senate seats, cabinet posts, etc).

You do realize people change when they get older for various reasons and may choose the wrong direction or simply not be as good at their job anymore.

And the Ds are not in the majority anyway. Besides I think she has her sights set on Schumer's senate seat when that time comes.

IMHO she should run for governor but she'll be talked out of it by the dems..

I haven't seen any indication that she wants to wade into that absolute political quagmire.

The thing is people tend to want outsiders in Washington who bring a breath of fresh air. Biden is the lone exception in almost 30 years.

Just being Congresswoman or Senator will make her lose if she goes for POTUS.

That said I think Jon Stewart is the only one who has a prayer of winning as a dem.

It does indeed. I see the characteristics of the country as an agglomeration or averaging of its citizens mental health issues, sick and in denial, frightened of a loss of world status it never really had, on a drunken bender trying to exorcize its fear of demons, self conflicted, divided, and at war with itself; collective of impulsive needs driven by feelings of insecurity, dying from psychological ravages, the loneliness and hopelessness that fear of losing in a competitive race to somehow escape it all creates while all the time unaware there is no way out in that direction, the truth being quite the opposite.

This is more about the sales pitch than anything. Obama was a Senator and literal college professor with a political engine assembled in a lab by the Chicago machine that people bought as an "outsider".

I don't know that she is interested in seeking the presidency.

Sometimes perception is better than reality. Remember that Bush Jr's campaign convinced everyone he was a rancher from freaking TX.
