Ok... BUT wouldnt you want the tags to read "No" still? As the way it reads you seem to be saying "I want taxation without representation!!!"

it's supposed to be the current situation - they are taxed, but do not have any congressional representatives (only 1 electoral vote).

thus, taxation without representation.

I can see what they're going for here. I think it's effective. If they said "No taxation without representation," you wouldn't have given it a second thought. But because of the unusual wording, you posed a query, and it revealed the pertinent information that DC residents have no voice in Congress. I already knew this, but I never think about it; this thread has reminded me just how unjust that is.

I get that I guess. Still seems odd though. It seems they should have put on there what they WANT not what they HAVE. Something like "Taxation with Representation" or "We want..."

All the power to 'em.

To me, if you're stupid enough to pay that much for real estate AND deal with crime that bad, then perhaps allowing you to vote for a representative isn't such a good idea after all. ;)

They can vote for their mayor. They elected a guy that was later caught on camera smoking crack. After he donned an African hat and ran for re-election, they re-elected him.
