Paladin3: "Your SKS is functionally the exact same rifle as an AR-15". You are forgetting our VZ58 - Legally limited to a 5 round Mag as with any Semi-Auto Rifle in Canada. Pull the pin for 30 rounds and you in trouble with Ministry of Natural Resources whom all carry 9mm Clocks.

Limited to 3 rounds for a Semi-Auto Shot Gun (Plug your 5 round). We can carry a 10 round mag in a bolt rifle and leaver action or Semi-Auto Pistol with a carry or transportation permit.

Nothing in Canadian Laws prevents you from owning a Firearm as long as you abide the rules and safe conduct of owning a firearm. You can buy any shot gun or long rifle including a SKS , VZ58 or Norinco CBQ AR 15 as long as you have a PAL Certificate which means you understand the consequence of owning a firearm. Pistols with over a 4.1" are legall but they have to be registered. Any thing under 4" barrel is prohibited.

Chinese Norinso CQB Ar 15's - YES - As long as their not Colt.

Well consider this: zinfamous & JEDIYoda: That USA and Russia arm 3 world countries with GUNS to keep them subservient - American and Russian Gun Mgr's profit over innocent lives to propagate political agenda over oil reserves.

I say most Canadians want NO part of this. Right now the USA has Venezuela on their knee's and Canada with her oil reserves is still holding out with their mid west people approaching proverty over this crap.

I consider Canada should just forget about exporting Oil for profit and keep it for ourselves. You people should look into where China gets her oil.

Canada manufactured lots of John Englis Lee Infields and FN's during WWII but her gun laws and import practice is still fair to keep law abiding Canadians armed, if an individual wants.

As I said - "Just keep your illegal American firearms out of Canada." ;o)

Agreed, but gun violence with a pistol happens many, many times every single day. Long guns of any kind, let alone the AR-15 specifically, account for a very tiny fractions of the gun deaths each year. Fixating on it's ban as the solution to end gun violence is illogical. And wanting to take a legal gun away from legal owners using it for overwhelmingly legal purposes, in the blind hope that it somehow stops those who would murder seems equally illogical.

And, as a gun owner, I also recognize that if we agreed to support an AR-15 or semi-auto ban that about 90 seconds after it was voted into law the drafting of even more gun bans and restrictions would begin. So why would I agree to any new gun restrictions if I don't think they stand a chance of reducing gun violence.

I do kind of like the idea of red flag laws, as long as there are very stringent safeguards for due process included, but even those are ripe for the violation of constitutional rights on basically hearsay.

In other words, it's hard to have a completely safe society and maintain any real level of freedom for the citizens.

Again, sorry for the rant.
I'm always glad to agree with someone supporting the Constitution and due process.

Well lets see what happens over this Washington, D.C. Second Amendment Rally - TOMORROW. I say, as a Canadian, I want to stop the illegal 9mm pistols from the United States entering Canada and corrupting our youth whom live in our cities - Northern's know better.
I also support Canadians not having any firearms at all.

I have nothing to fear from any firearm, legal or otherwise, if the finger on the trigger isn't bent on doing evil with it. If illegal firearms sneaking across the border into Canada are what's corrupting your youth, I suggest they may need to be taught better. ;)

And America isn't exporting illegal firearms to Canada. Criminals are. And they don't tend to obey any laws, sometimes not even the universal prohibition on murder. So it's good to hear that at least 2 million Canadians have the means for self-defense if the worst should happen.

P.S. I purposely ignored the USA bashing portion of your argument that blames us for the world's woes.

Its weird being pro-gun and anti-NRA.
The people who wanna support my rights are also violent nutjobs. Kinda like how the Nazi party did a good job of getting Germany back on its feet but then gassed millions of jews so I'm thinking "is this really the kinda world I wanna live in?"

I didn't know the 2nd Amendment requires people to buy guns. That seems like dangerous government overreach.

Just about every political and legal expert I've read has stated the 2nd amendment is there to ensure the government does not interfere with your natural right to have weaponry.

He's right wrt conservatives, but it's odd that you offer hyperbole yet can't receive it. All the Canadians I know and work with have no issues with joke detection, my apologies for riling you into a misplaced quote.

Just about every political and legal expert I've read has stated the 2nd amendment is there to ensure the government does not interfere with your natural right to have weaponry.

Either you stick purely to pretty strongly right wing "experts" (as in right of fucking Reagan and Bush Sr, both of whom actually supported assault weapons bans), or you're intentionally miscategorizing what "natural right" means because I know of plenty that view the 2nd Amendment as applying intentionally to State Militias (and absolutely not individuals' rights to own whatever firearm they want, so sure they support the right of the American people to have weapons to defend against the government, that's not remotely close to the bastardized interpretation you're taking and trying to claim they support as well). Although that wouldn't matter because any way you slice it, words "well regulated" absolutely do not infer absolute rights to any weapons you want no matter how desperately you try and keep claiming it does - which for someone who's claiming strict adherence to the Constitution, well when you ignore words you simply don't like in it that's not actually adhering to it.

Although, I'm fairly certain that Zin was talking about how Republicans have been violating about every other part of the Constitution these days. Which you clearly knew and are intentionally playing stupid about. Hell you can't even keep a straight face on this particular topic because even you recognize the harm that the NRA has been perpetrating. But you're struggling with if you're ok with that (you're not struggling, you're ok with it, the real problem is even your own brain is resisting your justification) just so long as you get to keep pushing their version of the 2nd Amendment. Even more, you admitted its apparently such a Sophie's Choice that you compared it to if you'd be willing to support the Nazis' Holocaust because they made things better for the Nazis. Just read your own posts and think about them, because you've pretty clearly shown exactly what the danger is to supporting such craziness that the NRA and Republicans are pushing these days. You yourself went out of your way to make the comparison.

Was it not the USA that filtered millions of firearm dollars in to Afghanistan to support Islamic Fundamentalists to fight precedence Russian aggression. I ask you - Who profited and is still profiting with the production of firearms over the loss of millions of lives and born the radical Islamic Caliphate Sate of ISIS.

Our Democratic Elective have the capability of foresight but corruption, greed and the monopoly game destroys humanity matters. How can we stop this insanity without the production of more guns ?

Do you know what a logical fallacy is?
The reason I mention it is you just made several. In fact I have to congratulate you on your long list of logical fallacies.
You are most impressive your lack of logic, sir or ma'am.
