Washing hands...do you get soap and then rub under the water

I figure that since I've never posted a thread quite like this before, why not.

I myself, wet my hands, get soap, soap up not under the faucet and then wash off.

I find it the best way is to wet hands first to lather....

All soap does is induce more oxygen into the water so the water can lift up dirt easier.

When at work in the labs, to clean soiled glassware I use a Potassium Hydroxide solution which does nothing by itself with out water. Potassium hydroxide can corrode through floor tiling if you let sit there long enough, so it's pretty potent stuff.

i like to rinse first. it makes me feel like i did a better job at washing up!

I get potassium hydroxide and potassium silicate on my hands all the time.

Although, I guess I've never left it on there long enough to see if it burns.. lol

Yup, get your hands wet first.

What always blew me away working at a restaurant was watching people, who supposedly had gone to health code training classes and whatnot, squirting soap on their hands and then rubbing their hands under the water. The soap never left that one area of their hand, and was instantly washed off. And they never seemed to understand when I tried to correct them.

Maybe they were just offput by your method of "correction." 😛
