I thought just using a hot dryer shrinks clothes but some chick working at a clothing store told me only to wash in cold water or it will shrink. wtf.

A hot water wash can cause the dye in your clothes to 'run' more than a cold water wash but can it shrink them too?

Why the hell would heat in the dryer affect the clothes but not heat in the washer? Your logic (or lack thereof) escapes me.

that's like saying your wank shrinks in warm water (if it could actually get any smaller).

No it's not, because my wanker isn't made out of cotton.

Wow, either your dick shrinks in hot weather, or you're easily in the top 5 idiots ever to visit this forum.

the women certainly hope it shrinks in warm weather...heck they hope it shrinks in any weather.

I wash all my clothes in cold water. The only things I wash in hot water are towels and cleaning rags. There's really no reason to wash with hot for normal stuff, IMHO.

I wash all my towels and white clothes (that is NOT a racial remark) in hot water and most everything else in warm or cold (I usually fill the tank half way with cold water then the rest of the way with warm water).

Well, your clothes wash better in warmer water, the detergent becomes more active.

Use the warmest water recommended for fabric. Cold water is fine for rinsing.

Don't scrimp on detergent or laundry additives. Use proper wash cycle and recommended amounts of detergent and/or additive.

Do not overload the washer. Set water level high enough so that clothes have plenty of room to circulate and to rinse properly.

I suppose it could depend on temperature. The water isn't going to be in excess of 212, while the air's going to be what, near oven temps?
