Does anyone else have experience with the washer/dryer machines? Not the stacks, but a single machine that washes _and_ dries clothes.

I have spent a few minutes searching, but mostly local retailers, and I can't find a unit that uses gas. They seem to be primarily ventless... which is not conducive to efficient and economical operation.

Whatever you have to offer, I'm interested.

I've used them while on vacation. The condos we stay at on Maui have them.

Don't remember the brand, but while they're better than no washer/dryer, I'd rather have separate appliances.

I only used them while in Switzerland ~10 years ago.

They didn't dry for shit. And wash cycles would take about an hour and longer. Could have been that model, or Euro energy standards, though

Like this? They're great for apartments or tight spaces but hardly efficient (water wise).

...he said not the stacks...

What prevents a single washer/dryer combination from working as well and being as efficient as two separate machines? I'm guessing the size/cost makes it not worth it.

my friends bought for their quesi-bachelor pad, it works okay, drying takes forever, but it is okay since there are only 2 guys and their g/f. Drying literally takes overnight. It lasted them a good 3 years before they junked it, and they have to take out the panels to do a basic clean up from all the lint-build up.

ventless ones in particular have to have a dehumidifying system built in. might be a TEC mounted to a metal plate, might be a full on AC dehumidifier. either way, that's more energy and more things that can break.

I don't see why you couldn't make a vented one one, but I'm sure that it costs as much as two separate units and can only handle half the load. Speaking of which now I have to do some laundry before tomorrow and I want to go to bed. I wish I had one of these machines.
