I just fished my VZW GS3 out of the washer, its currently air drying but I'll assume its toast. I haven't looked at phones since I got it, is the GS4 the best current replacement or does VZW has something else worth looking at?

I like the LG G2 right now. Bigger screen. Looks to be faster than the S4 and cheaper off contract. It kind of makes the s4 irrelevant unless there's some samsung specific feature you like a lot.

I'm not stuck on a brand or OS, the S3 was my first smart phone. I'll take a look at the G2 and I want to try the Lumia Icon if it launches in the next week or so.

The G2 pro looks like it is releasing soonish though if you need something now the Regular LG G2 or the Galaxy Note 3 are both good options, I find the GS4 kind of irrelevant right now because of the slower CPU and smaller screen than the G2 but same overall size.

If you want the phone to have a better chance, remove the battery and whatever you do, don't try to turn it on for at least a week. Water is fine for electronics, but water and electricity kills them.

If the overnight rice dryout method doesn't work, then unfortunately it sounds like you need to buy a phone now. I agree that the LG G2 is the best overall choice.

The S5 is supposed to be announced in a couple weeks, but doesn't sound like you can wait.

Go to Walgreens/CVS/Walmart and buy 90% Isopropyl Alcohol. Get a small rubbermaid or takeout tub and fill it with Alcohol....

Remove your battery...

Submerse your phone in the alcohol. Be aware....any stickers on the phone will likely fall off from this. Leave it in there for a few hours and move it around/flip it, etc... You want the alcohol to go everywhere the water did. Remove from the alcohol and let it sit for a day. Add battery back and power it back on.

My droid was waterlogged and I did this....it worked after the alcohol bath. Before the bath, water had gotten lodged in the small buttons on the circuit board so my volume/power buttons didn't work correctly. Alcohol helped remove that water.

I've gotten it to power on.

Issues noted thus far:
Battery is draining faster(aka down 50% in stand-by overnight)
Off screen touch buttons are hit are miss, when they are lit they work fine but half the time they don't light up
None of the speakers or mics are functioning but vibrate works

There is probably still some water in the phone affecting the touch buttons, the speakers and mics are probably shot. Right now I can use it for email and txt and I can see when someone calls and can call them back on another phone.

I'll be getting either an LG G2 or Lumia Icon by this weekend, tried my friend's Note 3 but it was too large for my taste

Turn it off and wait! I had an issue where some water got into my N4 during snowboarding. Volume buttons were finnicky. I left it off for another 2 days and it came back online perfect.

If you use it and there's still some water left you can screw up the device permanently.

Well I figured I'd update this.

I still have the s3. I was unable to locate an Icon in stock at any of the local Verizon stores even a week after launch. One night I received a call and the speakers started working out of the blue. Phone functions completely normally now outside of the mics and battery life is back to normal. I picked up a blue-tooth headset and its working fine. Not bad for getting washed while powered on.
