Wash out color on monitor...wtf mate

I have a Proview 19" monitor that was working fine for me for a while. then i decided to give it to a friend. when i set it up at his house, the colors seems washed out. they aren't as vivid as before. is this a faulty monitor or was it damaged somehow during the moving? can this be a video card problem or dirty electricity? he used to have a 15" monitor that worked fine and the colors were great.
 
fire ze missiles! Sorry I couldn't resist. Really, I don't know much about monitors but perhaps installing drivers would help? Try setting it up on your computer again (if that's feasible) and see what happens.
 
Drivers? Different OS? Video card settings? Monitor reset? Could be a bunch of things. It is obviously working, so if you want to rule out the monitor being at fault, then plug it back into your computer.
