Why on earth did you put a BOV on it? 😕

Faster release of the air and not dumping it into the exhaust like the stock wastegate to ensure lower EGT temperatures... with the BOV on, I can hold boost through shifting instead of having it drop and re-spool the turbo each time.

Reason 2 : When a ricer pulls up beside me and revs his fart can, all it takes is a little "PSST" from the turbo to shut him up... 🙂

BOV is the sh*t

edit: my friend has an Audi S4 2001.5 and he can't get BOV because his turbos arent made to use them. what ^^ said up there about the STi.

just hearing BOV makes me want to get at turbo car. and i want to get a turbo car because of BoV 😀

BOV's are a waste of time. They don't do a GD thing other then sound "cool".

I'd rather put that money into something functional.

Haha...and how much did you pay for the GT. Is it a fast car? Yeah, Ford did do something right with that one considering recent GT models have been a joke, but a Stg II SRT-4 would smoke a stock GT...ESPECIALLY from a roll. I couldn't say for certain from a stop...since hell, you know as well as I do that a driver has to know how to drive extremely well to keep the wheels on the ground. Honestly, in my Jetta I have to grandma it out of first...it still hops in second...by third I'm actually doing something. It sucks for 1/4mile but it is sure fun from a roll. But regardless...compare a stock SRT-4 to a stock GT...nothing else.

That being said...I would rather have the 'stang then a neon anyday. BUT...I would have held out for the Shelby that's coming out SOMETIME. Now that's a force to reckon with.

SVT's Cobra is slated for a 2007 release. Indeed, they will be a Z06 eater (IMO), they are a little out of my league at this stage in my life....pricewise. But who knows what will happen in the next couple of years. Fingers crossed for my being able to afford one, with my trade in.

Nope.

THey would have to go absolutely ballistic to make a Z06 eater. The Z06 is already nipping on the heels of the Ford GT "supercar."

Anyone else think it's crazy that affordable cars have gotten blindingly fast in the last few years. I mean, 0-60 in less than four seconds. That's like, cartoon stuff.

I highly doubt in my mind that the SVT will be a "Z06 Eater".

The GT500 is going to push 450hp or so, which is 50hp less than the Z06. It will also weigh several hundred pounds more (400-500lbs), and on top of that, and have an inferior suspension. Acceleration wise, I give a very slight nod the Z06, but on a race course, the Z06 would definately take it. The GT500 is a cool car though. Not sure on the pricing of it, but if they can keep it under $50k, it would be an awesome car for the price. Probably best bang for the buck, right along side the C6 Z06.

Regarding the Z06 vs Ford GT. Its pretty equal. The GT pushes out 550hp and weighs a little over 3300lbs, the C6 Z06 pushes out 505hp and weighs about 200lbs less. Very identical power to weight ratios.

Acceleration wise, they both run the quarter mile in Mid-11s (GT - 11.6 @ 128mph, C6 Z06 estimated Mid-11s in 120s), and both have an equally capable and fantastic suspensions. They will be very very close in performance. If I had to put money on it, I'd probably give the nod to the Ford GT, however, the Z06 is a much better car for the price.

I realize its all speculation and this is all just magazine/bench racing, but there is truth behind each statement. Honestly, I just do not feel that the GT500 will be a Z06 "eater", let alone, barely outperform it.

Anyone else think it's crazy that affordable cars have gotten blindingly fast in the last few years. I mean, 0-60 in less than four seconds. That's like, cartoon stuff.

Yes, I do find it pretty crazy. We have 400+hp cars as "affordable", while back then, it was only reserved for the Exotics from Europe. C5 Z06, C6, C6 Z06, GTO, GT500, Last gen Cobras (close enough, 390hp), CTS-V, and probably others that I have forgetten. There are also countless others around or above the 300hp range.

I do believe this is the "Golden Age" for car enthusiasts right now.

That z06 is simply amazing.

You're right though...I think we're right smack dab in the middle of a fantastic time to buy vehicles.

we'll see about the SVT....nothing has been put in concrete yet about the car....and its supposedly 500hp, not 450....but again, we'll see. I can, however, gurantee that the pricetag will significantly less than that of a Z06.

You - my friend... are wrong. Do some research on why a blow off valve is better for performance then a bypass valve or an internal wastegate.

The performance increase is - mind you... VERY small. But, the cooler the air entering the engine, the better off you are going to be.

You are kidding right?

No. Did the 14 year old at the performance shop fail to mention that?

Would you care to explain how the BOV will do any sort of damage to the car?

Please also post links to your research on how the release of compressed air is going to harm things... 🙂

Your computer has already acounted for that air and richened the mixture of gas/air.....now that air doesn't make it there, but the richness of fuel does. Enjoy!
