Wasabi-Mango 42"/4K/IPS/Freesync

Just found this over at overclock.net LINK

I can confirm: We have Freesync! I updated the firmware, rebooted the computer and now AMD FreeSync is Enabled. -True story.
Edit:
BTW, It seems Windows 10 recognizes the panel as being 10bpc, were my Win 8 install only showed 8.

Requires a firmware update, which confirms the early reports from AMD that it's possible with some monitors to retrofit them for Freesync with Firmware. Go figure.

Link for the update.

Looks like Newegg has the monitor for $750.

We need a professional review to check the overall performance. Very intriguing though.

That's amazing! 42 inch 4k AH-IPS - about as good as you get.

Might replace my 40 inch TV with one if I can find an eBay shop that will ship them to South Africa.

If you guys were looking to replace an old 40 inch LCD (not an LED backlit LCD) used for gaming and movies, would you buy a 50 inch 4k (but possibly not IPS) or a 42 inch 4k IPS?

Hello guys, I bought this monitor like 1 month ago, however got the HDMI 1.4 version as didn't even know of version 2.0.

Anyway it seems to me the firmware should work for the displayport for the older model also? perhaps a firmware hack is required or something? if anyone finds out ANY info on doing this please let me know.

I would like a freesync monitor for a future upgrade and rather not be forced to sell this monitor for budget price just to upgrade to the same monitor to get freesync.

I would contact Wasami Mango but I somehow doubt they would understand a word I say, sadly.

PS. Observations: Under Windows 8.1 I can only get 8bpc. However I'm told Windows10 supports 10bpc. Also I get weird glitches under Windows which do NOT appear under Linux. Could be driver issue, unlikely cable issue (is new 4k cable). Unfortunately I can't figure out how to get 10bpc under Linux, guess its a driver limitation (what a surprise).

Dang can't get them over here. Would be perfect cos I was resisting to hold out getting that Phillips 40 inch 4K...

Mang... 4K IPS + FS for that price is insane.

42"
4K
AH-IPS
HDMI 2.0 444 (make sure you get the 2.0 version!)
DP1.2a w/FreeSync update (42-60Hz)
$799

I would prefer a VA panel, but IPS is OK. Gotta give it up to these bizarre asian companies!

Does anyone here have one? I'm just about the pull the trigger on one in the HO primarily for PCB design and CAD work, but I'd be interested in hearing people's opinion in regards to how it fares for gaming.

Several people have them at overclock.net. A thread for it over there. One thing thats worrisome is that they seem more fragile due to size/packaging and may be more prone to damage in shipping.
