Was your body made for drinking?

Like some people always get sick or drink like 3 beers and act like total idiots, but I've always been able to drink and drink. Sure I have blackouts a lot where I go for hours and don't remember anything the next day, but my body just goes on autopilot or something and just keeps drinking. Ya I feel like crap the next day too but the point is it seems as though my body was bread and training to drink booze.

You?

I don't drink anymore, but when I still did a case of Busch pounders a day was the order.
I could outdrink any man alive.

I get the asian flush but I've downed about 15 beers and 9 shots in an hour period and didn't passout. I don't drink that much anymore cuz of the flush :(

just like people who take tylenol every time they stub their toe, it takes more and more pain meds for them to overcome their ails. you have become a trained guzzler, most likely with a high metabolism/body weight ratio. drinking until you blackout is bad, that's not autopilot, that's autoshutdown. It's purely psychological. You do not have a superhuman liver. You have a compulsion to drink, to the point where your body says, hey knock this $hit off.

I'd like all these self-proclaimed party animals to come back and post the same thing when they are my age...

result: rehab.

Anyone can drink like a fish when they are in college. It takes years of dedication to truly establish yourself as a monster drinker (and a liver transplant, of course...)

That pretty much says up anything I'd want to say.

That amount in an hour would kill the average human, let alone make them pass out.

I've always wanted to get stupid drunk just one time like I see some other people do, but I just can't. I get buzzed, then I get drunk, and instead of moving from drunk to sloppy drunk, I just move from drunk to sick. Which I guess is better, technically speaking, and my body's way of telling me to stop, but still, I've never been able to get to the point where I just sound like a blathering idiot and start running into walls and stuff. Ah well.

Cheers!

Unfortunetly for my liver, yes.

I can easily put down 20 in a night, be less intoxicated than someone who put down 10 and wake up with a hangover the extend of being kinda hazy for 5 minutes then a much less hazy haze(maybe running at 85-90%) for another half hour as I'd quickly come to 100%.
I'm not a huge fat guy either(6'2"/210lbs.)

I've cut back on drinking quite heavily, as I do want my liver around at 40.

I used to be able to outdrink anyone i knew. there were many times that i would be out drinking until 4-5AM and be at work a few hours later. no biggie.

that was like 20yrs ago. these days... whew... more than a couple of drinks and i am sick all night and feel awful for days.

lot less expensive for me to go out though.

I used to have a high tolerance, but didn't like what it was doing to my body. Not the beer gut, because I've still got that , but the general aching the next day and the headaches. Even when I drink gallons of water, I still get headaches from booze these days. Of course, I'm about 10 years past my prime drinking phase, so that isn't too surprising. Nowadays it is a couple of beers maybe, or several Gin and Tonics but that is about it.

As KarenMarie says, lots less expensive at the bar these days :)

I'm not really a part animal. And I'm 28 and not in college anymore. But I hear what you're saying.

If I'm healthy, I can handle my fair share of alky.

However, in the past month, I got food poisoning and immediately got sick after that, making me not want to drink anything recently.
